Sue B, Hull, visiting Novello Theatre London

Had problem with television but they came straight away to see to it. Really friendly, smiling staff. The foreign lady on reception on arrival was the best person there - made us feel really special.

Liked: The staff - nothing was too trouble. Really great people.
Disliked: Man on reception on 3rd December tended to let hotel down. Everybody else was fantastic.

Not quite the boutique hotel...

Liked: The location was great.
Disliked: There were pubic hairs all over the bedding. The sink tap in the bathroom was very stiff so you either got a dribble or a monsoon out of it. The toilet was placed with a wall 20cm in front of it so actually sitting on it proved difficult. There was constant noise all the time day & night from the bathroom as though there was air trapped in the pipes.

Our stay was good, met...

Liked: The bedding and towels were very clean. The bathroon was clean. The hotel is very well located and within walking distance of most places of interest and not far from theatres. Reception staff were nice and the stay was pleasant. We arrived late evening and the receptionist pointed out a 24 hour restaurant on the other corner, a blessing with a decent meal, as otherwise there is no hotel facility, but we knew that, of course from the information provided on booking. Basic tea/coffee with clean mugs and kettle were available in the room.
Disliked: The room was very small for two/double bed, with hardly any space to move, without bumping into each other. There was no room for the bedside table which lost its purpose as it was tucked away in a corner far from the side of the bed.The bathroom had some plumbing problems - a constant loud gurgling noise came form the basin on using it, after water had welled up in the basin. The same noise was produced on flushing the toilet. Some shabby decor that may be overlooked if you stay one or two nights. Forget a room with a view - ours had one that looked into some sort of shaft. I was nonetheless thankful as I read that some rooms had no window (unsanitary and unsafe). Phone reception is not good in the room and some areas, however the wifi connection was good.

Stay away from this hotel

Liked: Literally just the location.
Disliked: Very bad experience. Please go to another hotel. Be careful because there are MICE in the hotel. First time ever that I write a review of a hotel, but this time it was extremely disappointing. They put me in a room in the basement, which i didn't expect and was already unsettling, considering that i was going to stay for over a week. It was dark and humid and depressing.Even worse than that, the room had MICE. The scratching noises of the mice kept me awake at night. This happened repeatedly at night, with clear scratching noises that stopped whenever i switched on the light. In the first few nights I was so tired that I wouldn't pay much attention to them, despite that affecting my sleep, already difficult because of the jet lag. I was hoping those noises came from outside or whatever. On another night however they were so persistent and CLEARLY from inside the room that I couldn't sleep at all.So, severely sleep deprived, on my last day in London I had to cancel all my planned afternoon activities because I just couldn't be awake because of my severe sleep deprivation. Also, I had to spend some of that time to prepare the move to another room. In fact I had to pack all of my belongings again despite the significant tiredness. I then just fell asleep in the afternoon despite that being my last day in London, which I definitely had not planned to spend sleeping in a hotel. This is extremely disappointing. Also the fact that the hotel denied the presence of mice and didn't care of refunding that night of sleep deprivation is very unprofessional and also sign that they don't really care.On a final note, I had paid for a studio room so that i could sometimes cook inside, and you can imagine the disappointment when upon arrival they let me know that it's forbidden to have food in the room. Which now, in retrospect, makes sense because of the mice presence, but I would have chosen a different hotel if I knew this in advance.

Great place to stay and...

Liked: Location , staff member had a good sense of humour and was very helpful, room was service on both days I stayed so I had milk and tea each day,
Disliked: Having to ask to access the lift lobby to get to my room , this became annoying , I understand it would be for security but why was the access control not configured to the guest card so they can present and access the lifts, or make the lifts card access only to go up to your room.
