Liked: The room was beautiful & larger than expected. The bathroom, though beautiful, needs some shelving to accommodate toiletries. The bedding was extremely comfortable! The independent temperature control is always a huge plus! Location was perfect & we enjoyed walking everywhere! The food was amazing! Our cocktails were perfect & the bartender was friendly & gracious! The rooftop gave us beautiful views of Charleston while sipping an amazing Bloody Mary!
Disliked: We requested early arrival accommodation but the room wasn?t ready til after the normal check in time. But we were given cocktail vouchers & a delicious assortment of cheeses & bottle of wine.

Good location let down by...
Liked: Wait staff in the bar were the only redeeming feature, and trust me, after an 8-hour journey and then a 45-minute wait in line to get a seat as a hotel guest, they had some recovery to work on. Arriving at a hotel like this should not feel like a motel check-in! Guests seem to be an after thought at this hotel.
Disliked: The service is odd, superficial, not attentive and simply they do weird things like wheeling a late breakfast trolley BACK into your room at 8pm. Presumably, end of shift, corridor empty. Job done

Exactly what I needed
Liked: Spacious room with a desk (not so common in CHS apparently), good gym/pool, great breakfast, nice bar. Only stayed one day - did not really interact with staff
Disliked: Shower a bit outdated. Only minor negative

nice but not worth the...
Liked: lovely large rooms, clean and great location. good gym also. rooftop pool and bar are nice but very very busy. see below though. we stayed at Planters Inn 3 years ago and would choose that one over TCP if asked.
Disliked: sometimes things are ?reassuringly expensive? but not herewe had breakfast included. when we noticed they no longer did the breakfast buffet and it was off a menu with $ prices I asked both the server and the reception desk how it worked given we had paid to have breakfast included. both said everything is included and just sign the bill and it?ll be deducted at check out. well it was deducted but not the full amount. of course we knew tips would be extra and we were happy to pay them. apparently our breakfast being included was only for a certain value which my guess was one dish, one hot drink and maybe a juice. the fact I specifically asked twice what the arrangement was and I wasn?t told and the booking conditions were unclear has left us all pretty annoyed at the significant additional charges we incurred when checking out (and my elderly parents are not big eaters we were not being greedy!) with the lady on check out being completely indifferent to me not being happy we were not made aware of this. frankly ruined an otherwise pleasant stay, on principle rather than the $ value. it?s an expensive enough hotel they shouldn?t offer breakfast included if it?s limited or at least make the limitations clear, particularly when asked by a guest! only one of the swimming pools is currently open. the outdoor pool is currently shut. maybe that?s a time of year decision but not clear when bookingone final moan?.what is it with American hotels and a lack of recycling? we asked if they had recycling bins or anything for plastic and paper, etc. ?we don?t recycle here?
