Chaminade Resort And Spa

Great facility! Our room felt like an elegant tree house with the redwood deck extending into the woods. The staff was perfect and the food was amazing and really fun. Ostrich Carpaccio - WOW! Current rates makes this resort a bargain!!

Disliked: The receptionist tried to over charge us for the incidental then said oh I can pro rate it for you I thought that was strange also the rooms are outdated bath tub is old moldy

Disliked: room very uncomfortable to have a good night rest. extremely noisy air conditioner, fridge, you can hear next door conversations, door slams, upstairs neighbor floor loud squeaks as they move around. extremely loud showers yours and neighbors. you hope next door people will not shower or wash late at night or talk. so you can sleep. very disappointed.I have stayed at 3 star motels much quieter than this resort. definitely over priced.

The service, level of comfort...

Liked: Bed was comfortable but the pillows were not. Sadly, the s’mores and fire pit were the best part and that was an add-on I had to pay for.
Disliked: There weren’t enough towels for the number of people in the room so I called the front desk and they said they’d send one. The towel never arrived. I called to get a fork and the front desk connected me to room service who didn’t answer and after ringing several times, it said the mailbox was full. I called the front desk back and they forwarded me to the restaurant. Got the restaurant answering machine. Never did get a human to help me so I never got a fork. The bathroom has a sliding door which when “closed” still leaves a wide gap so there was no bathroom privacy. Also, when you go to open the sliding bathroom door, it’s very difficult to get open. The bathroom situation was frustrating for everyone. The drain in the shower was super slow so the tub filled up with water to ankle depth as one showered. There were no disabled parking spots near the room so I had to drop off my husband and go find parking and walk back every time. All of the closest parking spots were regular spots and always occupied. The ice machine was very loud and could be heard all night through the walls. It kept us awake. Sadly, there were many more negatives than positives about staying at Chaminade. I was disappointed considering the price we paid.

Not worth staying away from...

Liked: The room was nice.
Disliked: The pools are much smaller than what they looked like in the pics. One of them was closed and the other one was so crowded that we gave up . The long chair area was also pretty packed.Santa Cruz has both the ocean and a vibrant downtown. This hotel is a 15 min drive from all of that. We decided for this hotel hoping for a glorious afternoon at the pool. It was pretty disappointing.Staff was also not really on top of things. We have witnessed folks still waiting for their room at 4:45pm, some negotiations around food service in the pool area. We waited 50 min for our food at dinner.

They need better staff

Liked: Views were beautiful. Restaurant was nice.
Disliked: I was double charged.

Understaffed ruined vacation.

Liked: I love the location.
Disliked: They were full and under staff. My room had the carpet soaked, and it took almost 24 hours for them to arrange another room. The staff attitude was unacceptable. I had stayed here before and was looking forward to enjoy the facilities, but it just increased my stress.

Liked: Easy check in. Great dinner at the View
Disliked: No food truck at pool. Requested room close to pool but not accommodated. Not enough lounge chairs at the pool...hard to find a place to sit.
