Cave Castle Hotel & Country Club

The hotel is very pleasant with ducks by the river. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the general atmosphere is good.

Liked: The aspect and the range of breakfast items.
Disliked: The first breakfast space was not so good: with coffee standing in dispensers and hot water that wasn't so hot.

Disliked: Breakfast wasn’t as good as I would have liked. Not out and ready for 8am and no hash browns and no veggie sausage.

We’ve stayed at this hotel...

Liked: Nice location, rooms and restaurant / bar facilities.
Disliked: There was zero hot water left for a shower on the morning of our departure. The only water available was freezing cold. When I mentioned this to the receptionist she apologised but admitted that this was likely down to a lack of capacity vs demand given that the hotel was busy at the time. At breakfast we did notice that there was a coach party staying at the hotel and it’s likely that this was a factor as no doubt the party would all be leaving the hotel at the same time. Nevertheless my ability to have hot water in the morning shouldn’t be dependent on the plans of other guests.

Liked: Perfect stopover on our walk 'The Yorkshire Wolds Way'Lovely, clean, comfortable room and bonus - swimming pool to relax after a hot day's walk.
Disliked: Nothing we didn't like

Liked: - The grounds were beautiful but the rooms need a lot of work
Disliked: - The towels smelt like cooking so may have been left near the kitchen- The bathroom was extremely dated and not clean e.g limescale, rust- The walls were so thin you could hear someone in the room next door switching on a light- Rooms extremely dated

Liked: No concerns with the room. Clean with extra facilities not advertised.
Disliked: View from my room was nothing special.
