The Spotlight on Carlton George Hotel

Luxury Comfort in the Heart of Glasgow

Modern and upscale, the Carlton George Hotel offers a stylish base right in central Glasgow, perfect for those coming to the city for music and entertainment. Just steps from Queen Street Station and across from Buchanan Street’s buzzing shops, this hotel combines convenience with boutique charm. With a rooftop restaurant, complimentary mini-bars, and a cozy lounge with an open fire, it’s a classy yet comfortable retreat after a night of live music.

Why Concert-goers love it

The location is hard to beat—just a few minutes' walk from many of Glasgow’s main music venues and directly across from the airport bus stop. That means no stress getting in or out, even late at night. The hotel’s late check-in time (from 15:00) and central location make it ideal for travelers arriving by train or plane. Plus, the Executive Lounge access in select rooms offers a quiet, relaxed place to unwind post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a comfortable, well-located crash pad
  • Solo travelers chasing a dream gig
  • Couples enjoying a romantic concert weekend
  • Fans who want a peaceful retreat after the noise and energy
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who appreciate complimentary perks like mini-bars

Food and Drink Options

Windows Restaurant serves up creative Scottish cuisine with panoramic skyline views—perfect for a pre-show dinner or next-day recovery brunch. Complimentary mini-bars in every room (yes, with alcohol!) are a bonus. For something more social, the quirky and atmospheric Waxy O’Connor’s Bar—six bars over three floors—is just downstairs. Breakfast is served, and snacks and drinks are available in the Executive Lounge for qualifying rooms.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel doesn’t host live music onsite, you’re within easy walking distance of some of Glasgow’s best bars, clubs, and music venues. Waxy O’Connor’s is great for a post-gig pint, and the rooftop restaurant offers a more chilled-out evening vibe with city views. Local pubs and lounges are plentiful in every direction.

What People Say

Guests rave about the central location, with many noting how easy it is to get to venues and public transport. The complimentary drinks in-room and in the lounge are often highlighted as a standout perk. Reviews also mention the friendly, helpful staff and the clean, well-appointed rooms.

Areas for Improvement

The hotel’s classic decor may not appeal to fans of ultra-modern design. Some rooms can be a little warm in summer, and rooftop restaurant bookings can fill up fast—so plan ahead if you want dinner with a view.

The Bottom Line

If you want to stay central, sip free whiskey, and walk to your gig with ease, the Carlton George Hotel is a top-tier choice for any music lover in Glasgow.

A beautiful hotel in an...

Liked: This hotel was a perfect location near the train station. We were able to drop our bags after arriving from Fort WIlliam and then jump back on the train to go to Sterling Castle. Beautiful rooms including a complimentary mini bar in the rooms. A bit expensive for us but it met out needs for one night and was a lovely hotel with helpful, friendly staff.
Disliked: The television was in an awkward position in relation to our bed. But, that seemed to be a fluke in the room we had. The other two rooms rented by our party were arranged better.

Perfectly located with great service.

Liked: Perfect location. Literally seconds of walking from the nearest train station. Easy access to Buchanan street and many streets in city centre. You can feel the Glaswegian night life just in minutes walk out of the hotel. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The free mini bar was like the cherry at the top.Did I mention the location is perfect? Sorry I just really wanted to emphasise this.
Disliked: One item in my room was a bit dirty for some reason. However, the staff helped replace it very quickly.

Warm hospitality, perfect location, and...

Liked: The location is outstanding — next to Queen Street Station and just off Buchanan Street, ideal for exploring Glasgow. We booked an Executive Double Room with Lounge Access and felt instantly at home. The lounge was a lovely space to relax, with complimentary snacks, drinks, and a warm social vibe. Our minibar was topped up daily — thank you, Mary! — and the room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with everything we needed. Staff were genuinely welcoming and kind, especially Patrick and Mary, who made our stay extra special. The rooftop terrace offers fantastic city views, and the subtle Mackintosh-inspired design details throughout the hotel were a lovely touch. We even considered extending our stay — that says it all.
Disliked: Honestly, nothing we didn’t like. The hotel has a more classic style, but it’s very well maintained and felt warm and welcoming throughout.
