Beautiful Location - Hotel Could...

Liked: The location can't be beat. Literally steps from the beach. Easy walking distance to the Capitola Village with shopping and restaurants. Parking for one vehicle is included in the price. There are no resort fees. Our room (125) had a small kitchen with a gas stove and oven, small refrigerator, coffee pot, small dining table and 2 chairs. It has a separate living room with couch, love seat and small table with chairs and a flat screen wall mounted TV. The bedroom has a queen size bed with newer mattress, drawer, 2 bed side tables with lamps, one charging station for phones, small closet. The bathroom is small and the shower is very small. Larger size guest might not fit in the shower. Small sink and small shelf under the sink, no other storage in the bathroom.
Disliked: We paid $300 a night for our room, mid week in April. Check in is at 4 pm. We arrived at approx. 2:30. We were told our room was ready but there would be a $30 plus tax fee for early check in. We felt this policy was petty. We returned at 4 and received our key. When we first opened the door to the room we were struck by a very strong, off putting odor that we couldn't identify. This was an old, stuffy, musty, odor, not a strong odor of cleaning products which would have been better in comparison. There is a small kitchen but they will charge you $25 for any silverware, cookware, etc. There was not even a coffee cup, or plastic drinking cup. There was coffee packets with sweetener and creamer but no stir sticks or spoon. Fortunately we had read prior reviews and brought some paper plates, bowels, silverware and coffee cups from home. I would expect some basic items to be available at the $300 a night rate. A one star hotel or road side motel such as a Motel 6 at least will offer a plastic drinking glass, and paper coffee cup. The bathroom has no shelving or place to put your "stuff". You ladies can appreciate my wife's complaint. The Venetian is an older, unique property and the location can't be beat. I feel management could do more to to enhance customer satisfaction. At this price point guests have come to expect more.

Very good

Liked: The location was great, the condo was charming. There were lots of nearby shops and restaurants.
Disliked: It would have been nice to have an actual coffee maker instead of a mini, and the coffee they provided was terrible. Thankfully there are coffee shops just around the corner.

Very good

Liked: Great location steps from the beach! Protected parking if you can find it. Bathroom very well stocked with towels and soap. Beds had 4 pillows each.
Disliked: Hard to find with Google map, had to call a few times too get directions to hotel, parking, and their front office. Parking is tight and not guaranteed in the price. Kitchen inside but NO DISHES, SILVERWARE, POTS, PANS. Their email didn't say that so i didn't bring anything. Couldn't use kitchen. Beds/pillows aren't comfy and the shower was small /short for me (I'm short and thin) i knocked my elbows against walls. My partner over 6ft had a laugh at trying to shower. Lamp in living room had electrical issues and wouldn't stay on.
