Candlewood Suites NYC -Times Square By IHG

Small room and a little pricey but the location is within walking distance of Times Square sights. I would recommend this hotel.

Definitely good value for money...

Liked: Fantastic location. Really comfortable and felt completely safe as a single female with a child. Staff were super helpful. Nice little touches with the welcome pack and coffee etc in the lobby.
Disliked: Definitely in need of some cosmetic updating but that’s also part of the charm. Lifts were slow and frustrating at times but not a massive issue. AC could be noisy but worked fine.

Liked: Location is just near the Times Square and close to the subway and yet very quiet. The kitchen was well equipped and the staff were amazing, helped with everything I needed. Spacious room, I even stayed working from it a few days. That good I extended my stay for five more days. House keeping amazing!
Disliked: At least once a day the key wouldn’t work so I had to go down to the front desk so they would restart it. But honestly, it wasn’t that a big of a deal.

Liked: The room was adequate although dated, and the kitchenette was very useful. I appreciate the free laundry as well. The location of the hotel was very close to Times Square and convenient train lines, and the area felt safe with many food options and convenience stores around. Staff were also pleasant to deal with and accommodating.
Disliked: While the room was functional with all the promised amenities, there are signs of long-term wear and tear that made the room feel less comfortable than I hoped it would be. The corridor outside the room also smelled of cheese or some kind of stale food odour and it was there the whole time during my stay of about 10 nights so it wasn't just a one-off thing.The real dealbreaker however was that there was a day when all room keycards and elevators stopped working for more than a few hours. While the staff tried their best to help guests as much as possible (and truly, kudos to the staff on the ground who had to manage an incredibly frustrating situation), it's very concerning to encounter an issue as severe as that. I can't imagine the chaos it would cause for people who were leaving or arriving with large luggages or rushing to catch transportation out. As such, I'm not likely to return to this hotel again as it's not the most reliable accommodation.
