Not value for money

Liked: The hotel is located in the West End and is walkable into the city centre in 20 minutes or so. It is also situated on a decent looking and quiet residential street, so I wasn't apprehensive about parking on the street as there is actually no parking at the hotel. The only staff member that I saw was Mandeep, who I spoke to when I checked in. He was very polite and respectful and was very helpful in dealing with some of the issues that I experienced. They also have the heating on a number of times during the day and evening so it was warm enough.
Disliked: This is the second hotel that I have stayed at in Leicester where the photographs on Booking.Com are not consistent with the actual rooms. When I arrived and checked in I was taken to my first room. I wasn't overly impressed but it seemed on the surface to be okay, very tired looking and basic, but it seemed clean enough. It wasn't until I tried to close the window when I noticed that the curtains were really dirty, there was a big make up hand smear on the side of the headboard and the pillows on the bed were pretty dusty and grubby looking. The worst part was when I looked under the bed and could see a used condom on the carpet. I found Mandeep and showed him. He then took me upstairs to a second room which looked even more tired. To me, the room smelled badly of stale smoke so there was just no way that I could stay in the room. I suggested going to another hotel and getting a refund which would have been quite a bit more effort for me. Mandeep suggested showing me a third room. Again it was very tired looking and pretty grubby, nothing like the photographs on Booking.Com. I decided that it seemed ok so I stayed. The drawers which had the tea tray on was very sticky. I moved the position of the TV and noticed an old chicken bone underneath it. Behind the drawers there were bits of food and biscuit crumbs on the floor. The carpet generally didn't look particularly clean or vacuumed. The shower was dirty and had smears all over the glass and the bathroom floor was sticky. The kettle was stained brown on the inside. There was free tea and coffee but no cups, only one glass. When I was sat watching TV and drinking from my glass I noticed that a cockroach was running around the rim. I was meant to stay for three nights at about £50 a night roughly. I slept in my clothes on the top of the bed and at the foot of the bed with my coat over me.
