Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is just a short taxi or drive from local music venues and Basildon Train Station, which offers direct services to London for those catching bigger shows. While there’s no 24/7 room service, late-night options are nearby in Basildon centre. Tea and coffee facilities in every room are a bonus for the morning after.

Nightlife Options

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s free parking, friendly staff, and easy access to the train station. Many mention it's a solid choice for a short, affordable stay near concerts and events. The Wi-Fi and clean rooms also get frequent praise.

Areas for Improvement

The décor and facilities are a bit dated, and some guests mention the walls aren’t the most soundproof—so pack earplugs just in case. It’s not luxury, but it gets the job done for a music-fueled weekend.

The Bottom Line

The Campanile Hotel - Basildon - East of London is a smart, budget-friendly base for concert-goers who want comfort and convenience without breaking the bank.

Horrible

Liked: The amusement and shock to what we had booked. We thought it was like Bates Motel.
Disliked: We knew it was a budget hotel but it has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. As soon as we walked into the hotel room I was hit in the face with a load of cobwebs and a extreme smell of chlorine. We requested 2 beds for one of our rooms, there was only one. We did report this and the staff were very helpful and sorted it straight away. Albeit it was a tiny fold up bed, which was probably big enough for a child. The second room had 3 beds as advertised, but what they didn't tell us was the room wasn't actually big enough for 3 beds so it blocked the entrance to the bathroom. You had to climb over the person sleeping to get to the bathroom.Decor very dated looked clean on first glance but you could see blood on one of the mattresses..

Horrific Hotel with undesirable guests.

Liked: The place is awful. Appears to be a half way house, with 'guests' scoring on the carpark, then screaming & shouting all night making it impossible to sleep. Will never book here again. The bed was comfy, but couldnt sleep due to the horrendous noise from other guests. Totally horrific.
Disliked: Everything. Horrific stay.

Poor - 1.0 out of 5

Alexander Fri, 2 May 2025

Awful

Disliked: It was very noisy, the walls were paper thin so we could hear the conversations our neighbours were having until 3am, the mattress on the bed was worn out and a huge dip in the middle, the room looked like it had last been decorated in 1978 and smelled musty. The beds, for a twin room were so close together it may as well have been a double bed. For what it cost it was very disappointing.

Awful, old, dated and shabby,...

Liked: There’s not much to like about it
Disliked: It’s like a downtown cheap motel or a 1970’s English holiday camp. Poor decor, very old and worn carpets and furnishings. Bathroom very dated with the wardrobe in it! The bed tipped backwards, the foot end was much higher than the head end! A connecting door to the next door chalet with just a cheap DIY bolt on it. We decided not to stay overnight and checked out immediately. This makes budget hotel chains look like 5 star hotels.
