Great place to stay and...

Liked: Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was also very close to Penn Station as described and handy to food. We were recommended a bar around the corner called 'The Pioneer' and it didn't disappoint for a casual drink and pizza. Room was clean and spacious and bed very comfy. You could hear some outside noise from traffic and sirens, but I think that is just generally New York traffic noise and for a Saturday night, couldn't complain too much.

First time staying but would...

Liked: Location is excellent, nearby to shops, Subway and short walk to Penn Station and Times Square. Room was a good size for NYC. Fresh towels everyday and bin emptied.
Disliked: View was into other apartments, felt like a prison yard. Air con wasn't working when we arrived, reception said they would send someone to fix it while we went out, told us it was fixed but they didn't, so had to ask again. Bathroom a bit small. Broken lift, waited 25 minutes on morning of check out before having to bring suitcases downstairs. On third night someone from reception rang our room at 10.40pm to tell me I had to go down to pay security deposit. I don't know why this wasn't taken at check in as I had gave them my card. Wasn't happy about ringing at that time so went down in the morning and was told the card had been swiped but don't know why it wasn't taken. We only had one night left but was told if we didn't pay it we couldn't stay. Bit of an attitude regarding the whole situation even though it was their fault.

A Good stay except slow...

Liked: Location is good and staff were friendly. Room is clean and big, bed is comfortable. Bathroom is small but shower space is big.
Disliked: During our stay, a $100 deposit was charged to our credit card in addition to the room rate. Upon checkout on 18 April, we were informed by the receptionist that the refund would take 3 to 7 working days.As of today, 29 April, we still have not received the refund. When I followed up, I was told it could take up to 21 business days — something I have never encountered in my travels across many countries.This delay is extremely disappointing and concerning.

Good value and West side...

Liked: The room was a nice size for NY hotel room. Excellent blackout shade and good AC. There's a fridge in the room which is something I always want for drinks. Decent counter space for suitcase and bags. If you're doing things on west side of town it's very convenient to Penn/MSG and Times Square. Right by the red line.
Disliked: One of the two elevators was out of service the whole weekend I was there. It didn't end up being a massive problem but I could see weekends where it could be. While my room was a large size, the bathroom was kind of small. The shower was decent size but rest of the bathroom was cramped and the sink had no counter space. As a male it was mildly annoying to have to have my toiletries in the other room but I could say it being very annoying for a female trying to put on makeup or a lot of toiletries or a couple trying to share the bathroom space. Not sure if all the bathrooms are the same size though
