Sorely Disappointing

Liked: The castle in itself was beautiful driving up to it. The staff were unbelievably friendly. The room was beautiful
Disliked: I thought I was staying in the castle but the room was in a building outside of the castle. I asked for a card to wish my husband happy. Anniversary and They said They would but Didn't. There was nothing special in the room to make our arrival special. It took my husband exactly 3 minutes walking from the bar to our up and Down multiple flights of stairs and we both have mobility issues. We ordered room service and asked Specifically for lots of ketchup. It arrived hot and presented nicely but no sauce at all. Or condiments of any Kind.We didn't manage to even get dinner because on arrival we were informed that the only. sitting for the A-la-carte dinner was 7pm and we had had A late lunch because we weren't informed in Advance. Secondly they stop serving bar food or Room service at 8.30 and after a long journey by the time we got ready we missed dinner and you couldn't Even Buy a sandwich. We had. A Few Cocktail and a Bag of tayto to tie us over till the morning.I paid nearly 250 for a Superior castle room with a Courtyard View and As nice as the room was the experience was sorely disappointing. It was dead, there was no atmosphere, not even a little background music in the bar. My husband was so excited to stay in the castle because he is obsessed with medieval things but where we were staying felt more like a terrace house in a pretty street. Upstairs with no lift.The hotel need to be more precise on what to expect especially for the cost. And given the amount of rooms There was no reason for us To be so far out.

Excellent weekend getaway

Liked: We stayed in one of the courtyard rooms for 1 night. The room was beautiful and very quiet. It was a short walk to the main hotel for dinner and breakfast. Both dinner and breakfast were very good and staff were lovely and very helpful. Check in and check out was very easy also. The grounds were lovely to walk around too.

Liked: Staff from reception to bar restaurant were so friendly and helpful, just loved the abibience of castle .bedrooms are so comfy and clean very relaxing weekend can't wait too get back
