Lovely hotel that needs someone...

Liked: Location was perfect to explore the Cotswold. The best breakfast around included with our reservation. Delicious dinners also. Quaint hotel with lovely dining room and tables outside.
Disliked: Carrying my suitcase up narrow steep winding staircase. NO washcloths. Not enough plugs to charge phone and other necessities. One window didn't open.

5 star building & location....

Liked: Beautiful 17th century building with loads of charm and a gorgeous courtyard in a lovely town.
Disliked: I dont usually pass much comment, but this room was £166.50 full price. It was definitely not worth that. We have stayed all over the Cotswolds and in London in nicer, cleaner rooms for less...even the Blenheim Palace Buttery. We were given the attic room, accessed by the steepest set of stairs. Customers should be advised beforehand to enquire as to their mobility before offering this room. Charming original features but spoiled by dated furniture (not period). Wall sockets are loose. Had to boil the kettle next to the TV (electric/scald risk) Fire exit was a square hole, in the wall 3 feet above floor height, with a rope.ladder?..bizarre and definitely not regulation...more mission impossible.. Bath was beautiful but stained...with crusted limescale build up around the tap. Breakfast felt reheated. Blackpudding undercooked. Staff weren't unpleasant, but weren't especially warm either. Perfunctory is how I would describe the welcome. Basically said "room is up there" and left us to it" It's a stunning 17th century building in a wonderful location... but for that price I would expect 5star accommodation...it was a.3 star experience with a 5 star setting.
