Hotel Description
Old World craftsmanship meets free Wi-Fi at the Brookstown Inn a refurbished cotton mill that attracts our guests who appreciate both historic preservation and modern comfort. Originally built in 1837 as a textile mill this 71-room four-floor hotel — now on the National Register of Historic Places — boasts some neat architectural touches you don't see every day like exposed brick interior walls and wooden beams timber ceilings and a charming courtyard. Those flourishes don't come at the expense of modernity: you also get essentials like cable TV and free Wi-Fi along with extras including complimentary wine-and-cheese receptions and cookies and milk at bedtime. Other hotel highlights include an on-site restaurant that's open for din-din and a fitness center. Brookstown Inn is located on the quiet outskirts of downtown Winston-Salem a 10-minute stroll from major monuments like City Hall BB&T Reynolds American and other businesses. If you've brought the kids along the Children's Museum is just a three-minute walk. If you appreciate historic architecture you'll be happy to hear that Old Salem Museums and Gardens is just a 10-minute walk. Smith Reynolds Airport is tad over four miles.

Very good

Liked: Our check in Sun evg 19 May was without hassel. Kerry at the front desk was absolutely on point!! Very polite, pleasant, informative and assistive. Kerry is Awesome!! My special room requests were honored: away from elevators, ice machine and on a high floor! The added plus, bathroom was very large and quite spacious. The added feature of wine and cheese was delish!!
Disliked: The room rate was a bit pricey for a one night stay of $267.99. Why is there a Room/Bed Tax when there is a sales tax on the room rate? This is a double tax to me, which I will follow up on.Due to the aged building, there are not enough readily available outlets.

Friendly Staff

Liked: The staff was very helpful. We just missed the cookies, but she brought us a couple, which made my friend very happy! Liked the history of the area and the hotel.
Disliked: Our room was a bit musty.

I would like to come...

Liked: Friendly staff, great breakfast, large room, good coffee, nice linens, a nice experience!
Disliked: The sink did not drain in the vanity and the hot water was a long long time coming. I don't like to waste water. Refrigerator was noisy at night.

Cozy, comfortable, great location, easy...

Liked: the breakfast was fine and well presented. Real plates and silverware. Neat and orderly, adjacent to a comfortable lounge. The inn has a nice ambience, our room was large and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful. We would certainly recommend the inn to others and would return.
Disliked: No major complaints. The TV was a bit small for the size of the room and it would have been convenient to have a towel rack next to the wash basin, which is not part of the bath and toilet.
