Over priced stinking hotel.

Liked: The staff were pleasant enough. The location was the only good thing about this hotel.
Disliked: The only reason I booked here was because it had a pool. I wasn't informed beforehand that the pool would be closed for the 2 days I'd booked for, had I known I'd have cancelled. I was offered no compensation, just told tough that's what's happened. The filter needs cleaning. The food choices were terrible. Despite me informing the hotel days earlier that I was vegan, there were no vegan alternatives for breakfast. I had some beans and mushrooms which weren't very warm. I didn't bother going for breakfast the second morning, I couldn't wait to check out. I tried to order food on the first evening to be told the vegan options were cheese. I had to inform them that cheese isn't vegan.I settled on an overpriced bowl of chips. The hotel booking described a garden view. The view was a tiny enclosed area with cigarette ends all over the floor and looked down onto a window with towels and other things piled up against the window. There was an unpleasant stench on the stairs. The bedroom had water stains over the ceilings, stains all over the carpets and curtains. The curtains were hanging off the rails, cobwebs all over the ceilings, the furniture was dated, damaged and didn't smell very nice. My daughters allergies were triggered the whole time we were in the room, she literally sniffed and coughed the whole time. I woke with a peculiar rash on my arm. I honestly wish I'd booked a travel lodge. This was supposed to be a lovely treat for my daughter, but it was far from lovely. I felt totally ripped off, and this hotel was absolutely not as advertised.

Fawlty Towers Mark II

Liked: Hotel is set in lovely grounds. Bath /Shower was good, movable shower & plenty of water pressure. Breakfast servers were friendly & efficient. Beds were quite comfy!
Disliked: Arrived to a disconnected TV, had to refit aerial & reinstall it ourselves! Room door would not lock from inside or outside so we had to switch rooms after 3 hours of waiting! Very annoying! From a triple room to 2 separate rooms. Not once did we ask for 2 rooms - that was the only solution proposed to us!Taken to reception to get 2nd room key then left waiting for it whilst others were checked in! Not great customer service!Slow response, hotel clearly understaffed on our 1st night. Then, with zero communication or prior warning, we were expected to move back to our original room the next morning! We could not do so as we were only asked 4 mins before our Uber arrived! Had a full day of paid-for plans so we declined, saying it simply wasn't possible! We were accused of "refusing the request" & made to feel bad as they had to apparently cancel another guest's room! That point was repeated several times! Spoilt our day completely! The member of management also mentioned the price we'd paid where others could overhear it...very unprofessional and appalling customer service! Zero communication! We were completely taken aback as there had been no mention of repair being possible after 1 night or room swap back to original room being expected!Pool also out of service for our entire stay when we had picked this hotel mainly due to its pool!Hotel overall needs more maintenance of doors, windows etc. A real shame as lots of potential...but our stay was ruined by the room issues, pool closure and atrocious lack of customer service!!

Passable

Liked: The second room we had was nice as we changed due to a bad smell in the first. The hotel staff were great. Jason in the leisure centre was great. We were given a full complimentary dinner due to the issue with the closed pool.
Disliked: We booked the hotel on here but we're not advised the pool was closed which was the main reason why we booked this hotel.

Disappointing. Pick somewhere else.

Liked: The room was clean
Disliked: The pool was out of service but we weren't pre-warned. Very outdated and run down. Breakfast was poor quality. The bedroom was advertised as suitable for 3 people but was far too small- we had to step over an arm chair to get to the bed.

Disliked: Travelled with my autistic son who loves a pool… the pool was green. Room was too hot for him and was given a dirty broken fan.. room had cracks and broken wall by ceiling with freaked him out more.. had to leave as he became deregulatedExplain to staff why we have to leave, called booking.com to request refundNext day spoke when manager who refused to refund and expect there was mitigating circumstances as to why we had to leave and they should give a refund… still on going

Really good facilities for families...

Liked: We loved the pool and the food was really nice. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly.
Disliked: A few parts of the hotel could do with a little TLC, but it wouldn't put us off returning. There was a slightly musty smell in the corridors, and the blind was broken in our room. Small things, but thought worth mentioning.
