Why Concert-goers love it

The location is hard to beat—right across from Birmingham New Street Station, making late-night transport a breeze. With many music venues just minutes away on foot, you won’t have to worry about missing encores or waiting on an Uber. Rooms are simple but quiet, great for unwinding after a loud night. Harvey’s Bar offers a snack menu for lighter bites, and there are plenty of eateries within walking distance if you’re grabbing a bite before the show. While there's no 24/7 room service, the central location means late-night food is never far away.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t have live music, you’ll be within arm’s reach of Birmingham’s top nightlife—from live gigs and DJ sets to low-key pubs and cocktail bars. Harvey’s Bar onsite provides a casual space to enjoy a drink, and the proximity to New Street means you're never far from the party.

What People Say

Guests consistently highlight the excellent location as the top perk—perfect for catching trains and shows alike. Many reviewers appreciate the affordable rates and find the rooms basic but functional. Staff are often described as friendly and helpful, making check-in and check-out smooth.

Areas for Improvement

Some rooms could use a modern refresh, and Wi-Fi is only available in public areas, which might be a downside for those wanting to stream from bed. The décor is more retro than trendy, but that’s all part of the Britannia’s charm.

The Bottom Line

If you want to be in the heart of Birmingham without blowing your concert budget, the Britannia Hotel Birmingham New Street Station is a solid choice for music fans looking for location, value, and simplicity.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Other than good location, very...

Liked: Central location
Disliked: Very noisy due to poor windows and inability to close fully. Advertised as having a restaurant and bar - both absent. Entrance is in a dark alleyway and on numerous occasions I was bothered by groups of homeless people asking for money and cigarettes - I would say this is NOT SAFE for lone female or elderly travellers.

Liked: It’s in the city.
Disliked: The room is too small no air con and no window to get a fresh air from which makes me feel suffocated.
