Liked: Beautiful hotel, in a lovely setting. We had a warm welcome at reception and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The hotel also had beautiful gardens.

Fantastic facilities, tremendous gardens, friendly...

Disliked: The evening dinner could have been better. Having stayed and eaten at both of the other National Trust Hotels, we felt that the evening dinner at £75 per head did not match the evening meals we experienced at the other hotels.

Excellent, tranquil, good old fashioned...

Liked: Peaceful, remote, excellent quality with every need catered for, including my coeliac requirements .
Disliked: No anti slip mat in the bath, but I loved everything about this property

Laid back luxury and comfort...

Liked: Beautiful old building that’s been preserved and still has its original features. Felt like a country house stay in days gone by. The staff were exceptional. We loved our cottage in the grounds and that our dog was welcome
Disliked: The spa felt a little tired and the refreshments were very expensive and not very imaginative / healthy for a spa
