Overall it was a good hotel to stay at and very convenient. It was very close to the mall and restaurants. Also the Halifax Forum.
Liked: It was near all the places we wanted to go.
Disliked: The entrance to our room was from outside. Therefore to go anywhere in the hotel we needed to go outside.

A stay by the lake...
Liked: Breakfast was included and had some good selection. The room was standard but had a fridge/freezer and a view of the lake. The lake is beautiful and swimmable in summer - apparently the city chlorinates it every summer. We travelled with our dog and it was nice to be able to do a circuitous route around the lake for a walk in the morning.
Disliked: There are no fans in the bathroom and our room had the smell of Doritos or stinky feet due to dirty carpets. Other hotels that allow dogs in the rooms have switched to laminate flooring which is easier to keep clean. Also, they did not provide any amenities for our dog - water bowls, blanket etc. whereas some other hotels do. Not an expectation, just appreciated when it's offered. Plus, when being charged $35 extra/night for the dog, one would expect at least that the funds might be used to deep clean the room between guests.

Pretty good.. If you need...
Liked: Breakfast was very nice. Proper tables and they had staff their cleaning and offering to help
Disliked: The room although great was so hard to get to and we couldn't take the luggage cart there as you encountered a set of 5 stairs to go down. This is not friendly to carrying heavy bags at all. The internet was terrible. I gave up. The only place it seemed work well was in the lobby or breakfast area.
