This hotel is just a short taxi or rideshare away from Birmingham's most popular venues. Whether you're headed to a late-night gig or an all-day festival, you'll appreciate the quiet surroundings for your post-show wind-down. Check-in starts at 14:00, so there’s time to drop your bags and freshen up before heading out. The hotel also offers on-site parking (for a fee), making it easy for road trippers. With food delivery options available right to your room or the lounge, it’s ideal when you're coming back hungry after a show.

Within a short distance, you’ll find bars, clubs, and lounges to keep the evening going. If you prefer a quieter night, Beauforts Bar offers a cozy spot to unwind with a drink before bed.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s peaceful location despite being so close to the city center. The friendly staff, clean, spacious rooms, and easy access to concert venues regularly earn praise. Many appreciate the option to order in food, especially after a late return from a show.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mention the decor is a little dated in places, and the Wi-Fi can be patchy in certain rooms. Also, keep in mind that on-site parking isn’t free, so factor that into your budget.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable base close to Birmingham’s music scene, the Best Western Plough & Harrow Hotel hits all the right notes without breaking the bank.

Decent value comfortable hotel for...

Liked: It was an ideal location for my stopover in Birmingham and decent value too.
Disliked: Someone else got given a room card for my room which was a bit of a shock for them and me when they walked in but we had a laugh and the hotel reception sorted it straight away for them.

Crater bed experience you’re hard...

Liked: Location is good when you want to stay close to the centre of Birmingham city.
Disliked: Sofa bed is like a crater and reception desk is always empty when you need someone to ask something.

Value for money was great...

Liked: It’s a beautiful building, and the room was clean.
Disliked: Although our room was upgraded. There was peeling wallpaper which had just been painted over and the room would benefit from a little modernisation. When we arrived there was nobody on reception, we eventually had to go into the bar to ask a member of staff if we could check in. We later had one drink in the bar - a pint and a large glass of white Zinfandel, the bar tender didn’t know what wine I was asking for and under poured the measure. This round cost £21!

Liked: Lovely stay, very comfortable bed, delicious breakfast
Disliked: Doesn’t look great from the outside, could do with spending a bit of time on making it look nicer

Absolutely disgusting! Will NEVER stay...

Liked: Nothing!!!
Disliked: Filthy! We asked to be moved as our first room was awful; hair, rust, dirt, cobwebs, spiders, YUK! Got moved to another room and still wasn’t convinced it was clean. The breakfast was disgusting. One man at another table asked if I had had the brown bread to which I said I hadn’t. He told me to be careful as he thought it was mouldy!
