With elegant rooms, free Wi-Fi, and a welcoming vibe, it's a solid choice for concert-goers looking to stay close to the action while enjoying a restful night's sleep.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is just a short taxi or rideshare away from Birmingham's most popular venues. Whether you're headed to a late-night gig or an all-day festival, you'll appreciate the quiet surroundings for your post-show wind-down. Check-in starts at 14:00, so there’s time to drop your bags and freshen up before heading out. The hotel also offers on-site parking (for a fee), making it easy for road trippers. With food delivery options available right to your room or the lounge, it’s ideal when you're coming back hungry after a show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Budget-conscious music lovers looking for value and comfort

Food and Drink Options

From classic British fish & chips to Thai and Chinese, it’s all at your fingertips. Plates, cutlery, and condiments are provided with a smile—perfect after a long night out.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more about relaxing than raving, it’s well-positioned for exploring Birmingham’s buzzing nightlife. Within a short distance, you’ll find bars, clubs, and lounges to keep the evening going. If you prefer a quieter night, Beauforts Bar offers a cozy spot to unwind with a drink before bed.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s peaceful location despite being so close to the city center. The friendly staff, clean, spacious rooms, and easy access to concert venues regularly earn praise. Many appreciate the option to order in food, especially after a late return from a show.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mention the decor is a little dated in places, and the Wi-Fi can be patchy in certain rooms. Also, keep in mind that on-site parking isn’t free, so factor that into your budget.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable base close to Birmingham’s music scene, the Best Western Plough & Harrow Hotel hits all the right notes without breaking the bank.

Pleasant

Liked: Fantastic breakfast. Lovely staff. Beautiful building.
Disliked: Right next to a very busy road, so access can be difficult at certain times of day.The room was very hot and we could not work out how to open the window for ages. It wasn't obvious. So, we didn't sleep too well.

Very good value, clean, good...

Liked: Very good value for money. The room was guiet -it was a separate set of rooms a very short distance away from the main hotel, but it meant there was not possibility of being disturbed by any events happening in the main hotel (don't know if there were or not, but you know what I mean).Very good sized room. Well prepared. Bed looked clean, ditto the en-suite bathroom, towels all ready etc. etc. It was clean. Parking was good (though we had to pay extra). Car park felt secure (there was a barrier), and was very close to the room. Location felt safe, though I don't know Birmingham. We walked back to the hotel at about 11:00pm and didn't encounter any problems (though that's only a sample size of one, obviously)Breakfast room a good size and breakfast generally good, though a couple of things could have been a little better. Staff all friendly and obliging, even if they were clearly a little short staffed.Location good for us - we were going to a concert at the Utilita, so it was a walk of about 20 minutes in and out of Brum, which was fine. If you didn't fancy the walk, and needed to be in the centre of Brum, that might be too far out.
Disliked: Some of the decor, carpets etc. looking a little "tired" now - though all clean. But at the price, not a cause for any major complaint. The self service breakfast arrangement was a bit awkward, involved umpteen different utensils to serve the various items. But the food was fine, for me. Though there was a temporary interruption in eggs. To be honest, this seems to be the norm with self service breakfasts - "the eggs have run out". Normal service was resumed after I'd already eaten my choices. The juice was of indeterminate origin - we couldn't work out what it actually was, so just had water. Traditional orange, grapefruit, and apple juice would have been better. It would have been nice to be able to open the window in our room, and have direct control over the room temperature (you have to call reception to change it, apparently). It wasn't too hot for us, but some people might like to control the temperature in the room Also, the radiator seemed to making a constant rushing noise during the night, even though it wasn't on. Again, it didn't keep us awake, but might some people
