Historic Charm Meets Concert-Ready Comfort in Birmingham

Set in peaceful, leafy grounds just a mile from central Birmingham, the Best Western Plough & Harrow Hotel is a classic, traditional-style hotel with a modern twist. With elegant rooms, free Wi-Fi, and a welcoming vibe, it's a solid choice for concert-goers looking to stay close to the action while enjoying a restful night's sleep.
Only a short drive from the Bullring Shopping Centre and just minutes from major city venues, it blends old-school charm with modern convenience—perfect for a musical weekend getaway.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is just a short taxi or rideshare away from Birmingham's most popular venues. Whether you're headed to a late-night gig or an all-day festival, you'll appreciate the quiet surroundings for your post-show wind-down. Check-in starts at 14:00, so there’s time to drop your bags and freshen up before heading out. The hotel also offers on-site parking (for a fee), making it easy for road trippers. With food delivery options available right to your room or the lounge, it’s ideal when you're coming back hungry after a show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends who want a laid-back base near the action

  • Fans needing a quiet space to recover after a loud night
  • Budget-conscious music lovers looking for value and comfort

Food and Drink Options

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the on-site Terrace Restaurant, served with local flair. After that, it’s all about flexibility—thanks to partnerships with Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Just Eat, you can order a wide range of cuisines and enjoy them in the bar, lounge, or your room. From classic British fish & chips to Thai and Chinese, it’s all at your fingertips. Plates, cutlery, and condiments are provided with a smile—perfect after a long night out.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more about relaxing than raving, it’s well-positioned for exploring Birmingham’s buzzing nightlife. Within a short distance, you’ll find bars, clubs, and lounges to keep the evening going. If you prefer a quieter night, Beauforts Bar offers a cozy spot to unwind with a drink before bed.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s peaceful location despite being so close to the city center. The friendly staff, clean, spacious rooms, and easy access to concert venues regularly earn praise. Many appreciate the option to order in food, especially after a late return from a show.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mention the decor is a little dated in places, and the Wi-Fi can be patchy in certain rooms. Also, keep in mind that on-site parking isn’t free, so factor that into your budget.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable base close to Birmingham’s music scene, the Best Western Plough & Harrow Hotel hits all the right notes without breaking the bank.

Great value for money, comfortable...

Liked: Great price. Good value for money. Beds comfy, everything clean, overall quiet.
Disliked: The decor is really out of date. Although this is charming in many ways, it also came across as said and uncared for.

A generally pleasant stay, great...

Liked: The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Staff were great.
Disliked: Heat in the room was controlled by reception and the room felt cold and damp on arrival. The one evening meal that we had was awful but I have to commend the barman who waived the charge for it without any hesitation.

Mice running around breakfast room,...

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Absolutely Horrific – Avoid at All CostsThis was, without question, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. When we arrived, we were shocked to find that the mattress on the bed was barely thicker than a slice of bread – completely unsuitable for a decent night's sleep. To make matters worse, the room was absolutely filthy. Dirt, dust, and grime everywhere, with clear signs that it hadn’t been properly cleaned in quite some time.As if that wasn’t bad enough, we woke up covered in bed bug bites. Disgusting and completely unacceptable in any accommodation, let alone one charging guests to stay.We hoped breakfast might redeem the experience slightly – but that was wishful thinking. Upon entering the dining area, we were immediately greeted by mice running around the room. That was enough to turn us straight back around. We didn’t even attempt to try the food. Hygiene standards were clearly non-existent.All in all, this hotel was a complete disaster. Unsafe, unsanitary, and utterly miserable. Do yourself a favour and stay far, far away.
