Mixed experiences but a good...

Liked: We stayed in three different rooms across two stays, before and after walking the Routeburn. Two of the rooms were on the lower ground floor which are fine for a night or two (and cheaper) but had no view or a close-up view of the carpark. The other room was a 'Large studio with mountain views' – be warned that there are six of these rooms, three have large balconies and great views of the mountains, two are next to reception and have great views of the cars parked in front of them with no balcony and no outdoor furniture. And yes, we got the latter room. The room is nice and large and comfortable but it's not a nice view like the other rooms. The manager was super helpful when we complained and moved some outdoor furniture to the carpark in front of our room ... but check with the hotel before booking these rooms.The location is good with an easy walk into the city and a bus stop nearby for the airport or the city. The hotel has a guest laundry with washing machine and dryer and also a clothesline – all very much appreciated after a very wet walk on the Routeburn!

Liked: Nice apartment room with two ensuite bedrooms. Large kitchen, dining and lounge area and short walk into town. Very comfortable and tidy and it was good value for a family of 5 in QT.
