Steve, Chepstow, visiting O2 Academy Glasgow

We arrived unexpectedly early but were immediately looked after and taken to a vacant room. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy, but we felt the windows, paintwork and decor could do with a freshen up. However, that apart, the room was well equipped and comfortable. We will certainly return next time we're in Glasgow (and perhaps ask for a room away from the street).

Liked: Staff amazingly friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Decor in room needed sprucing up.

Poor

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: The hotel is located 1 minute walk far from the train station and 30 minutes walk far from Buchanan bus station. I had all the connections with the busses from Buchanan station. But the location wasn't the problem. This is an old hotel, without any renovations or upgrades in years. The elevator didn't work for the last 8 months. Just before leaving Canada, the hotel sent me another message regarding the elevator which they were trying to fix it. It was too late to cancel the booking. They accommodated me at the first floor. Still 20 steps to the first floor. The carpet was old, dirty, with stains. The bath tub had old stains from an old rubber mate. The walls had dents, a hole covered with a piece of wood, dirty marks. The lights above the mirror from bathroom didn't work. I advised the receptionist and next day a guy from maintenance came and he stated" oh, I can't fix it. It's the wire not the bulb. Use the ceiling light". And he left. The shower had a part broken and sharp, which it hasn't been removed. The breakfast was on a small table with 3 small plates with 8 slices salami, 8 slices cheese, 8 slices ham. 2 small bowls with cucumber slices and cherry tomatoes. An old toaster for frozen bread. Every day the same. The entrance of the hotel didn't have any appeal. No flowers, no flags. Just the name of the hotel above the front door.

Good

Liked: Good location in the city centre. Right next to Central station. Clean. Comfortable.
Disliked: Seemed a little bit pricy when I stayed (although Glasgow in general seemed to be expensive that weekend). Lifts are not working 'indefinitely '. This did not bother me, but might be a problem for some.
