Disliked: Constrained use of the swimming pool over the weekend

Beautiful old hotel in a...

Liked: The grounds and beautiful building, fitness area, indoor pool and beauty salon. Restaurant food was beautiful, private parking and large rooms.
Disliked: The restaurant did not seem large enough for the size of the hotel, although you could still order from the menu and sit anywhere else in the downstairs area.

Took our American family loved...

Liked: Dog friendly.Staying in a castle.Breakfast amazing.Loved the ghost story.
Disliked: Nothing negative just a suggestion..Could promote the ghost story more.

Beautiful old hotel with lots...

Liked: Very large hotel with plenty of places to relax and have a drink. The food was great including the breakfast.

Tired place that let's people...

Liked: Booking didn't transfer into their system correctly so we got there and had to be given single king with roll away rather than 2 full beds requiring wait. Then had to switch rooms for night 2. Room for that night was full of ash from cigarettes like someone dumped ash tray upside down on couch with burn on couch and ashes left everywhere. Then went to check out and they insisted I needed to pay AGAIN for one of the nights. Staff was nice. Hotel very worn. Avoid.

Impressive looking hotel in a...

Liked: The room was spacious and clean, and the shower was powerful and hot no matter what time of day it was used. Use of the swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gymnasium all included in the room price. Great to get in from work and have 20 minutes in the sauna or steam room to unwind.Bar prices were reasonable, and the food was very nice (I highly recommend the Gamekeepers Linguine).Will definitely be stopping here again when next working in the area.
Disliked: If I was being really picky, a couple of areas could do with a paint touchup. But, it's a busy working hotel so you can expect the odd bump and scrape here and there. In no way would this deter us from staying again.

Liked: The original part of the hotel was very nice. The rooms were nice as well.
Disliked: The service was not very good. But to be fair, they had a bus off people come in all at once. Just bad timing on our part.

Liked: The room was cosy and bathroom nice. Much prefer having a walk in shower over a bath
Disliked: Disapointed in the lack of Scottish food at breakfast. Given the type of hotel, i was hoping it would showcase scottish products. Instead the butter was irish, the spread cheese was french etc. no mention of anything local.The eggs were like bullets, inedible. No-one could work the coffee machine it was really funny watching this.Didn't like the evening menu either, i dont think the food was very good here.

Liked: Beautiful setting , comfy large room .Hotel in general very tired and in need to tlc .
Disliked: Very run down , shabby looking , needed a good clean and hoover . Tables not cleared in bar . Breakfast chaotic . Dinner disappointing . Had to pour our own wine and carry it into dining room from lounge . Not what I would expect from a nice hotel . Disappointed .
