The Spotlight on Apollo Hotel

Classic Comfort Just Minutes from Birmingham's Music Scene

Modern yet unpretentious, the Apollo Hotel offers an affordable and laid-back stay in the Edgbaston area, just a short drive from central Birmingham. With easy access to the NEC, ICC, and Birmingham New Street Station, it’s a smart base for anyone heading into the city for a show or festival.
Whether you're catching a concert downtown or heading to a major event at the National Indoor Arena, you'll appreciate the hotel's relaxed vibe and practical location.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is key—and Apollo Hotel delivers. You're just a few minutes by car or train from top music venues, with Birmingham New Street Station and major roadways close by. Despite its proximity to nightlife, the hotel is tucked just far enough away to offer a quieter night's sleep post-show. With a 12:00 PM check-out, you won’t need to rush out the door the morning after. Plus, late-night transport options are easily accessible.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable base before and after the gig
  • Solo travelers checking off a bucket-list live show
  • Couples making a weekend of it with nearby countryside escapes
  • Fans wanting a calmer spot to recharge after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music fans who don’t want to compromise on location

Food and Drink Options

While the hotel doesn’t offer 24/7 room service, it does have a restaurant and bar onsite, great for a pre-show bite or a nightcap. You’ll find late-night eateries within walking distance, and breakfast is served in the morning—ideal after a late night out.

Nightlife Options

Birmingham’s vibrant nightlife is close by. The hotel is just a short walk or quick cab ride from popular clubs, bars, and live music venues. Back at the hotel, the casual bar serves up local drinks in a relaxed setting—perfect for unwinding without the crowds.

What People Say

Guests love the free parking, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. Many mention the hotel's great access to city venues and the value it offers compared to more central hotels. It’s often praised for being quiet at night—a bonus after a loud gig.

Areas for Improvement

The décor is a little dated in places, and some guests feel the hotel could benefit from a refresh. Wi-Fi can be spotty in certain rooms, so plan accordingly if you're planning to stream or share concert photos.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a convenient, no-fuss place to crash after a show in Birmingham, Apollo Hotel hits the right notes.

Nightmare stay

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Reception was lovely so i thought we were going to have a lovely room...had to walk outside to room which had a dated , scruffy door which set off alarm bells. Entered the room which smelt musty and it was really dated...curtains were from the 70s and not even attached properly. The room just needed a complete update as some bulbs were missing too...we saw an ironing board and iron but it didnt heat up even tho the light came on . The bathroom was awful ...went to have a shower but could not adjust the temperature so i would of been scolded and the shower head had to be held as there was no where to attach it . There was no loo roll holder so had to lift from loo to grab the toilet paper from the windowsill and then it looked like as if it was used from other rooms. Overall the one night stay was a nightmare...we booked in as our house was been rewired and an absolute bombsite but i honestly wish i had stayed at home as anything would of been better than the Apollo

Would not stay here again

Liked: Only upside was the price and parking.
Disliked: Overall experience was poor. Reached the hotel and reception told us they were open 24 hours. When we went to check in early morning no one was at reception. Had to call the given number to get looked after. The iron in the room wasn't working, shower drainage was poor, tap was loose, toilet lock was about to fall off. Worst part, woke up in the morning with difficulty breathing. Not great ventilation.
