With its traditional British charm, garden views, and peaceful atmosphere, this hotel offers a cozy base for music fans looking to unwind after a big night out.

The hotel features a mix of rooms, some even with kitchenettes—perfect for longer stays or late-night snackers. Free WiFi, helpful room service, and a lovely on-site restaurant round out the experience.

Why Concert-goers love it

While not in the immediate heart of a major city, Anglesey Hotel is within easy reach of Portsmouth Harbour, Southampton Guildhall, and The Mayflower Theatre—making it a great base for catching live shows and then escaping the crowds. Quiet surroundings and comfy rooms make it ideal for post-concert recovery, and with luggage storage and flexible service, it’s well-suited to those coming in for a single night or a weekend.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Solo travelers seeing a bucket-list artist and needing a quiet, safe stay
  • Couples making a weekend of it with beach walks and concerts

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant serves up breakfast daily—including continental, vegetarian, and Full English options—perfect for late risers after a night out. While 24-hour room service isn't standard, the staff are attentive and the kitchen is accommodating.

Several local pubs and eateries are within walking distance, giving you easy access to late-night bites and drinks.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn't host live music, the nearby town centers of Gosport and Portsmouth offer vibrant nightlife with bars, lounges, and live venues just a short drive or cab ride away. For a low-key night in, the hotel bar is a great spot to relax with a drink from the garden.

  • Reviewers highlight the delicious breakfast and convenient beachside location
  • Travelers appreciate the quiet setting after a busy night out

Areas for Improvement

The check-out time of 10:30 AM may feel a bit early for night owls recovering from a late gig. Also, while the location is beautiful and quiet, getting to and from concert venues may require a short drive or taxi, so plan ahead for transport.

The Bottom Line

Anglesey Hotel is a charming, quiet hideaway near the coast—perfect for concert-goers looking to relax and recharge after the show.

Liked: What a charming and inviting hotel, minutes from the coast. Staff were so friendly and helpful and breakfast was a treat! Loved the sash windows and the abundant tea/coffee/snacks!

Very good

Liked: The location was perfect for us. Helpful staff, good breakfast, and relaxing surroundings. Overall, better stay than we expected after reading other reviews prior to booking.
Disliked: Not enough coat hangers or cupboard space in the room. Slightly tired decor upstairs. Would prefer back cut bacon than the middle cut provided.

Friendly, comfortable and clean

Liked: The first thing that struck me was the classic architecture, masonry and carpentry, with some beautiful windows and doorways that could do with a bit of attention, but lovely as they are too. The beautiful views out over the park to the sea and the Isle of Wight were gorgeous. We had a lovely big room, with a tastefully decorated ensuite, equipped with shower, sink and toilet. There was a kettle with lots of drink options and the bed had a good firm mattress, so we slept well. The desk staff were busy, but friendly and helpful, as were the cleaners. One of the girls that served breakfast had a very helpful and lovely disposition, attentive and friendly, always smiling and keen to make sure everything was perfect. I usually have a full English, but had the vegan breakfast with a poached egg added and it was very good. Great as it is, with a good lively bar too
Disliked: The rooms could do with a bit more TLC, maybe cleaning the windows inside and out and a refreshing paint job, maybe new stair carpets too, but the prices would probably rocket!

Pleasant hotel in good location

Liked: Great location for Stokes Bay and not far to the town and ferry gardens. Pleasant staff, rooms adequate, fair price.
Disliked: No disabled access, we had to help our 94 year old mother up and down steps to get in to the hotel or from the bar to the lift. Need more flexibility with food in the bar, we would have liked to have had light bar snacks. Restaurant menu was limited. Needs to have a shelf in the shower for soap and shampoo etc.

Liked: Very easy and quick check-in and check-out, friendly staff. Room was well equipped including soap, tea, biscuits etc. Could open the window nice and wide to let a cooling breeze in.
Disliked: Room (particularly the bathroom) felt a bit tired, though was fine for the price. The room also got quite warm overnight (though we did stay in summer!)
