Definitely check this place out

Liked: Conveniently located in the middle of Tahoe city
Disliked: The music that was playing out by the two fire pit areas was loud and can hear it in the room

Disliked: The bathrooms are a minimal renovation of the old motel

Edge of lake lodging

Liked: Stayed here 38 years ago when it was a Travel Lodge. Great location on the edge of Lake Tahoe. Basic motel style rooms.

Liked: As is the trend around Tahoe, Evo refurbished an old decrepit motel into a modern hotel. Really appreciate this as Tahoe has a shortage of mid-range hotels for those of us that don't want to spend over $400 a night but also don't want to risk getting bed bugs in a dirty motel. The upgrade is generally tasteful and comfortable, although keep in mind they have to work with the existing motel structure, hence very small bathrooms. Appreciated the on-site sauna although some room for improvement here. The on-site restaurant had a limited menu when we were there but the two things we ordered were delicious - look forward to their full menu. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: The sauna's location, in front of reception and next to the car park, is not ideal and doesn't have that sense of peace and relaxation you associate with saunas. It needs hooks for guests to hang their clothes or towels, as in the winter it's quite cold to walk straight from the room outside to the sauna. The cold plunge tub wasn't yet functional when we were there but appeared to be too small for a proper cold plunge. Some of the fixtures in the bathroom (the shower drain and sink?) appear to be original and seem a little aged / worn.

Liked: Super modern updates to an old motel. It was great having the restaurant/bar next door. The two patio s were nice! Enjoyed the back patio . Good w our dog.!
Disliked: You could really hear the people above walking around as the floors aren’t carpeted.

Liked: Location
Disliked: Perhaps the cheap materials used in the remodel or build are the reason for the noise level. Walls and doors felt paper thin due to the noise.

Exceptional

We'd definitely stay here again...

Liked: The beds are super comfortable and the location is great. You can walk to everything easily, whether along the street or down on the lake walkway. It was easy with our dog. The two sitting areas at the front were comfortable and fun since we had a group. Loved being able to go to the bar/restaurant to get a beverage, snack and hang out.
Disliked: Since the floors are hard (vs. carpet) there is a fair amount of noise if those above you are walking around. Check in and check out were lengthy due to system issues and staff newness. That said, everyone was very nice.
