Afan Lodge is a dog friendly hotel within its own grounds in the Afan Argoed Country Park. There is free Wi-Fi and each modern room has air conditioning 39 inch smart flat-screen TV. The popular lounge bar lets guests relax with a beer hot chocolate or freshly ground coffee. Lounge beside the fire on one of the sofas and watch the large TV. The Afan Lodge Restaurant has a stylish yet traditional menu with fresh and often local ingredients. The Afan Lodge Is owned and operated by Pen Y Cymoedd Community Fund who welcome those who want to enjoy the Afan Valley mountain bike trails and walking routes. There is a secure bike lock-up on site. The Community Fund has been established by energy company Vattenfall for the benefit of the communities hosting the wind farm in and across the upper Neath Afan Rhondda and Cynon Valleys. The Fund has an annual Budget of £1.8 million until 2043 and it offers an amazing opportunity for local people to invest themselves and their ideas - building on all that is best in their communities. Pen Y Cymoedd Community Fund purchased The Lodge to ensure its continued contribution to the local community's economic and social wellbeing by creating and sustaining employment. Any eventual profits will return to the community fund for reinvestment across its area of benefit The Fund is managed by an independent locally based not-for-profit Community Interest Company. Pen Y Cymoedd Community Fund has eight Directors and three members of staff - all with local connections and many combined years of community engagements experience. Afan Lodge is between the Forest Park Center and Glyncorrwg Mountain Bike Center. It is 6 miles from the M4 and 8 miles from the coast. overaul very good

Liked: location was great, plenty of walk routes. evening meals was good, room was very large.
Disliked: one of the three days we where there breakfast wasn't very good.

Liked: Great building,
Disliked: Signs for the restaurant could have been bigger, the Kingsize bed we biked was two large single beds stuck together.

Great stay, good location and...

Liked: Beautiful location and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating.
Disliked: The shower fluctuates between extremely hot to ice cold. No temperature regulation, that’s with adjusting the temp.

Magical area, great food &...

Liked: The area was magical. Hotel was better than expected & should be at least 5 star. Our room was no 14, superior king with windows to see the view from 2 sides. Comfy & homely. Oh & we brought little dog. Staff very nice, friendly & helpful. Breakfast & bar meals were well cooked/presented, good portions, lots of choice & very tasty. Will definitely go again.
Disliked: N/a we liked everything!

Clean, friendly staff, good food,...

Liked: The location of the property. The bar, good beer and food
Disliked: The shower. The hotel has really hot water, and you find that once you have set the shower so that you are comfortable with the water temperature, something out of your control changes it to either scolding or freezing
