The Spotlight on Admiral Hotel

Budget-Friendly Charm in Central London

Modern comfort meets historic character at the Admiral Hotel, a Grade II-listed 19th-century townhouse just a short walk from Paddington Station. This affordable London stay blends quirky, artistic decor with practical amenities like free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and in-room fridges. With a central location near Hyde Park and easy tube access, it's a solid choice for concert-goers looking for style on a budget.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything when you're catching a gig, and this hotel delivers. Just 5 minutes from Hyde Park and under 10 minutes' walk from Paddington Station, it's easy to reach top music venues across the city. The area stays lively late into the night, and with nearby public transport options—including direct trains to Heathrow—getting back after a show is a breeze. Rooms are compact but quiet, and the 14:00 check-in time means you can drop your bags and head straight out.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a central, affordable launchpad
  • Solo travelers jetting in for a must-see performance
  • Couples planning a weekend of music and museums
  • Fans who want a quiet night’s sleep after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want location without breaking the bank

Food and Drink Options

The Admiral Hotel serves up a hearty cooked English breakfast each morning—perfect for recovering after a late night. The on-site restaurant/bar area offers traditional fare, and the surrounding neighborhood is packed with walkable dining options, from cozy pubs to international bites. While there's no 24/7 room service, the fridge in your room means you can stash snacks for after the show.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn't host live music, you're right near the action. The Paddington and Bayswater areas offer pubs, bars, and lounges that cater to all moods—whether you're in the mood for a nightcap or a dance floor. Plus, easy access to the tube means London’s buzzing nightlife is just minutes away.

What People Say

Guests love the artistic room décor, friendly staff, and unbeatable location. Many mention the hotel’s cleanliness and proximity to Hyde Park and Paddington as major positives. Travelers also appreciate the value for money and the classic London townhouse vibe that gives the hotel its unique charm.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms can be on the smaller side, especially if you’ve got gear or shopping bags in tow. Some guests noted that the décor, while funky, could feel a bit dated to some. There's also no elevator, so pack light if you’re staying on an upper floor.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers wanting an affordable, well-located London base with easy access to music venues and late-night options, the Admiral Hotel hits the right notes.

Convenient location, but somewhat dated.

Liked: Location- proximity to Paddington and Hyde park couldn’t be beaten
Disliked: Decor was a little dated and property could have been cleaner. Check in was in a completely building, this would have been good to know. Also worth noting there was no lift to the top floor.

Avoid!

Liked: Very close to Hyde park and tube station
Disliked: - Booked admiral hotel, however we were then given a room in a different hotel next door- Attic room, very hot, up multiple flights of steep stairs, not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties -Outdated decor, broken furniture, dirty walls -Damp, odour from bathroom was very bad.-Tiny old bathroom, no bigger than an aeroplane toilet. Huge limescale build up on shower head.-Water pressure was 0 and the shower trickled. There was also only one temperature- cold -Paper thin walls -This one room cost £300 for a night and was not worth it at all. The pictures shown on booking.com do not match what you are met with in reality, especially the bathroom!!

We loved the personal homely...

Liked: The location was outstanding. Just a five minute walk from Paddington station and Paddington tube station. We booked to go to Hyde Park for a concert which was also a 5 minute walk. Kevin the manager of the hotel was exceptionally helpful as we needed advice on directions to major London attractions and he was extremely knowledgeable and spot on everytime. Nothing was to much trouble. He also gave us complimentary drinks on arrival. Top man. The breakfast was nice with everything there required and we were even offered more when finished.
Disliked: The hotel room had no air con and it was too hot. Although there was a plug powered cooler in there which did help. A lack of toilet roll but was redeemed when we asked quite efficiently.

Shocking.. would never return.

Liked: The staff were nice
Disliked: Very poor aesthetics as basic as you’ll get, the room was on top floor in the loft absolutely not ideal when carrying luggage up with children. Wasn’t the cleanest either, ok at best. The room was ridiculously small apparently it was a family room, No it wasn’t. It was boiling hot and the fan blew warm air… I don’t know about you but 34 degrees to try and sleep is beyond uncomfortable, it’s unbearable. That’s all I can say really by this point we checked out and drove 5 hours home after paying £300 for 1 night for absolutely nothing.
