The Spotlight on Adamson Hotel

Classic Scottish Comfort Just Outside the City

Modern meets traditional at the Adamson Hotel, a fully refurbished Scottish coaching inn tucked away in the peaceful village of Crossford. With a countryside vibe and only a 20-minute drive to central Edinburgh, this hotel is a charming base for any music lover looking to explore the city’s vibrant concert scene—without the city-center noise.

The hotel blends rustic charm with updated comfort, offering cozy rooms, free Wi-Fi, and a warm local welcome. You'll find plenty of space to relax after a big night, and easy access to major roads like the M90 makes getting to and from shows a breeze.

Why Concert-goers love it

Concert fans appreciate the easy drive into Edinburgh for major gigs, without having to deal with the hustle (or cost) of staying downtown. The hotel’s free parking and quiet village setting make it ideal for a restful night post-show. With check-in from 14:00 and check-out at 11:00, there’s just enough flexibility to suit most travel plans, especially if you're heading to an evening concert.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends on a weekend music trip
  • Solo travelers heading to see their favorite artist
  • Couples looking for a romantic concert getaway
  • Fans who want a peaceful post-show retreat
  • Budget-conscious guests who want value without sacrificing comfort

Food and Drink Options

The on-site Tempus Lounge serves up classic pub meals made with local ingredients—think steak pie and fish & chips. While there’s no 24/7 dining or room service, the restaurant is a reliable option for a hearty pre- or post-concert bite. Breakfast is available the next morning, perfect if your night ended late. Several local eateries are also within a short drive.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more about tranquility than tunes, Edinburgh’s buzzing nightlife is just a short drive away. Think bars, clubs, and live music venues throughout the city—then return to the calm of Crossford for some well-deserved rest.

What People Say

Guests highlight the hotel’s clean, modern rooms, friendly staff, and the excellent value for money. Many mention that it's a great base for exploring nearby cities and appreciate the free parking and great food in the lounge. The peaceful atmosphere is often praised after a busy day or night out.

Areas for Improvement

The hotel doesn’t offer late-night dining or on-site nightlife, so plan your post-concert meals accordingly. Some rooms may be on the smaller side, but they’re still comfortable and clean.

The Bottom Line

If you're after a quiet, affordable stay within easy reach of Edinburgh’s top music venues, the Adamson Hotel hits all the right notes.

Hotel unfortunately does not deliver...

Liked: Reception staff were pleasant. First impressions of Hotel were positive unfortunately the room we were given was not .
Disliked: The room we were given was not to a standard the hotel was marketing it to be . Only one bedside table . The excuse we were given as it was a family room the bed would be somehow pushed to the side of the wall to then position the sofa bed !!! The bedroom door could not be locked from inside as the forend plate was bowed which prevented the door being closed without being slammed and the internal dead lock being used . The liquid soap dispenser over the hand basin had fallen off and the soap dish on wall below shower to had come away . The bathroom had wood splinters coming away at the bottom and there was a gap between the wall and the door on the right hand side of door beside bottom of bath due to the tile being cut to the wrong size . Breakfast was absolutely appalling. Fruit was either an apple or orange with No yogurt . There were also no pastries of any kind .Boxes of cereal were available however my partner is celiac therefore could not have those . The hot food was basic at best . Tea was in an insulated jug with a hand written postit note on it ( tea ) . My partner and I left a day early .

Ok but...

Liked: Cleanliness, food and design
Disliked: The disabled room isn't wheelchair friendly. The bathroom has no grab rails or emergency cords. All the showers are tray-based and not roll-in. The loo in rooms are too loo for wheelchair transfer.

Good

Liked: Price was very good for what you got. O.K for overnight stop. Breakfast included and was reasonable. Meals in the bar on the night were good and not too expensive.
Disliked: Room on the small side. Carpet could have done with cleaning. Only one bedside table. Bathroom had no window or fan so steamed up all the time.
