The Spotlight on Ace Hotel

Stylish, Music-Loving Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Manhattan

Modern, eclectic, and full of personality, the Ace Hotel is a boutique gem located in vibrant Midtown Manhattan. Housed in a historic building and brought to life by local artists and designers, this hotel blends creative flair with upscale comfort. Just a 10-minute walk from Madison Square Garden, and steps from subway lines, it's a perfect base for concert-goers looking to stay close to the action.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can’t beat the location—just minutes from major NYC music venues and only a 3-minute walk to Herald Square subway station, making late-night returns a breeze. The 24-hour front desk and 12:00 PM checkout mean you can sleep in after a late show. Plus, the lobby often features live music, adding to the creative, music-friendly vibe without the noise creeping into your room.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends will love the artsy, social atmosphere. Solo travelers can grab a coffee at the buzzing Stumptown café or catch a live set in the lobby. Couples will enjoy the romantic vibe of the unique, individually designed rooms. If you're a fan needing a quiet place to recharge, the rooms offer stylish comfort with modern soundproofing. And for budget-conscious music lovers, the central location saves big on late-night transport.

Food and Drink Options

The hotel offers two on-site dining options, including the charming Koloman Restaurant. For a more casual vibe, grab a late-night espresso or pastry at Stumptown Coffee Roasters. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the surrounding neighborhood has plenty of late-night eats within walking distance. Breakfast is available for those who need a slow start after a big night out.

Nightlife Options

Don’t skip the lobby lounge, where you’ll often find live music sets and a cool crowd. The surrounding neighborhood is packed with bars, speakeasies, and lounges, all within easy walking distance. Whether you're after a craft cocktail or a quiet glass of wine, there's something nearby to match your post-concert mood.

What People Say

Guests rave about the creative decor, friendly staff, and unbeatable location. Many mention the hotel’s cool, buzzing atmosphere and say it’s a top pick for music lovers and creatives. The rooms are noted for being clean, comfortable, and full of personality. Bonus points for the excellent coffee shop right in the lobby.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention the rooms can be on the smaller side, which is pretty typical for Manhattan. The hip lobby scene can be lively, so if you’re looking for total peace and quiet, request a higher floor.

The Bottom Line

With its artistic flair, great food and music on-site, and a location just minutes from major venues, the Ace Hotel is a top pick for concert-goers who want to stay where the energy is.

Good location for a short...

Liked: Good location. Very central.
Disliked: Room was smaller than advertised, very dark and did not include complimentary coffee/tea as expected although there was a kettle for use in the room. The water pressure in the bathroom sink and shower was poor. At check in, I was charged a $200+ deposit fee without prior indication this would be taken rather than card held. If this is standard NYC hotel policy then it should be made clear at booking.

Great stay in NY

Liked: Perfect stay in city centre for a good prize. Love the little quote-jokes around the room. We had a bunk bed but it was very comfortable. There was a big mirror in the room, a kettle, a fridge, a hairdryer. There was also a mini bar, but we didn't use it. Under the shower, there was nice body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. We also got some shower caps and some toiletries, which was nice because you could adjust the shower head . It was pretty close to a lot of good attractions. The staff was very helpful and nice. Good service with room cleaning. Good WiFi.I like the whole industrial look of the place, really place with a character! There were no breakfast options, but by the lobby, there was also a restaurant where you could get something to eat. There was also a bar and just a nice sitting area in the lobby. In the room, there was the main light, and also two smaller lamps. They were normal power sockets but also one with USB ports by the bed.By the door there was nice space for suitcases and shoes (no wardrobe) some hangers with clothes hangers available.
Disliked: The shower was kinda odd. I know it might be because of the industrial look, but the shower head was not adjustable, and the shower curtain was not covering the whole area, which led to splashing water all over the place. Had to use towels to dry the floor (because the toilet was at the end of the bathroom and you would need to walk through the puddle of water to go pee) Fortunately there was second drain hole by the sink/entrance so you could easily guide the spilled water to it.

Very good

Liked: Great location and relaxed vibe
Disliked: The dozens of people loitering out front on the street was a bit unsettling at times and felt a little weird. Am not sure the hotel can do anything.

Great!

Liked: Loved the vibe, decor, room. Felt like a mini apartment.
Disliked: Am not a frequent traveller to the US and the deposit was actually taken from my card (without me being made aware) so I had bank issues on the trip going overdrawn.

Brilliant location, a hotel with...

Liked: Fabulous Midtown location. Close to major sites in Manhattan but not noisy. This is a characterful hotel, with brilliant staff, and a great vibe, with all the amenities you need, rooms kept clean, and super comfortable beds. Oodles of charm. Don’t come here if you like your hotels to always feel the same; there are plenty of chain hotels you can go to, but you will miss out on this gem. Stayed here in several rooms with my family. Everyone loved it.
Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Worth it, great location and...

Liked: Amazing friendly staff! Loved the lobby vibe and the room decorations. Also, the barista at the coffee shop shop downstairs was the friendliest man ever. They will hold your suitcase before checking in/after checking out at no cost.
Disliked: The bathroom door in the room doesn’t really isolate the bathroom from the rest of the room. It was not an issue for me since I was traveling solo, but I don’t think it would provide enough privacy if I was traveling with someone else. Also, the tub needs some anti slip padding, it was an adventure taking a shower without slipping.
