A spacious and comfortable room,...
Liked: We were 3 friends meeting up in NYC for a long weekend and booked a double at the Ace Hotel. Our room was spacious, very spacious for NYC!, and the decor was all glorious hipster vibe. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was thoughtfully appointed with enough space to hang things, a guitar and a table we could sit around with breakfast, tea or wine. There were two big windows, although not a ton of natural light (maybe just because it was winter). The heating kept us warm. The bathroom is old school style. A bit small but manageable, but the water pressure was great and there were lovely bath products provided in eco-friendly larger multiuse dispensers instead of those ridiculous little bottles.
The midtown location of the hotel was great, and it was fabulous having the Black Seed Bagels and Stumptown Coffee right downstairs for tasty, convenient and reasonably-priced breakfasts before heading out. There is also Milk right next door and the Breslin, where we had a delicious and cozy dinner and drinks before heading up to our rooms for the night. The lobby has a great coffee house/pub vibe. Got a bit loud in the evenings, but in a happy way ,and when we were ready to retire, our room was a quiet and calm retreat. Ace Hotels know what they are doing!
Disliked: The bathroom, which was on the cramped side, stayed quite cold, which wasn't so fun in the morning. It was a bit challenging to shower without getting the rest of the bathroom wet, as the shower curtains weren't quite wide enough to close reliably.
