The Spotlight on Ace Hotel

Stylish, Music-Loving Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Manhattan

Modern, eclectic, and full of personality, the Ace Hotel is a boutique gem located in vibrant Midtown Manhattan. Housed in a historic building and brought to life by local artists and designers, this hotel blends creative flair with upscale comfort. Just a 10-minute walk from Madison Square Garden, and steps from subway lines, it's a perfect base for concert-goers looking to stay close to the action.

Why Concert-goers love it

You can’t beat the location—just minutes from major NYC music venues and only a 3-minute walk to Herald Square subway station, making late-night returns a breeze. The 24-hour front desk and 12:00 PM checkout mean you can sleep in after a late show. Plus, the lobby often features live music, adding to the creative, music-friendly vibe without the noise creeping into your room.

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends will love the artsy, social atmosphere. Solo travelers can grab a coffee at the buzzing Stumptown café or catch a live set in the lobby. Couples will enjoy the romantic vibe of the unique, individually designed rooms. If you're a fan needing a quiet place to recharge, the rooms offer stylish comfort with modern soundproofing. And for budget-conscious music lovers, the central location saves big on late-night transport.

Food and Drink Options

The hotel offers two on-site dining options, including the charming Koloman Restaurant. For a more casual vibe, grab a late-night espresso or pastry at Stumptown Coffee Roasters. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the surrounding neighborhood has plenty of late-night eats within walking distance. Breakfast is available for those who need a slow start after a big night out.

Nightlife Options

Don’t skip the lobby lounge, where you’ll often find live music sets and a cool crowd. The surrounding neighborhood is packed with bars, speakeasies, and lounges, all within easy walking distance. Whether you're after a craft cocktail or a quiet glass of wine, there's something nearby to match your post-concert mood.

What People Say

Guests rave about the creative decor, friendly staff, and unbeatable location. Many mention the hotel’s cool, buzzing atmosphere and say it’s a top pick for music lovers and creatives. The rooms are noted for being clean, comfortable, and full of personality. Bonus points for the excellent coffee shop right in the lobby.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention the rooms can be on the smaller side, which is pretty typical for Manhattan. The hip lobby scene can be lively, so if you’re looking for total peace and quiet, request a higher floor.

The Bottom Line

With its artistic flair, great food and music on-site, and a location just minutes from major venues, the Ace Hotel is a top pick for concert-goers who want to stay where the energy is.

Very good

Disliked: They try to charge you “destination fee” in addition to your booking.com fees. Also, they insist on paying deposits on the same card which is not a legal obligation and does not say anywhere on their web site. When I ask, they want me to cancel the reservation. Rude & irresponsible

Stay at the ACE!

Liked: The location! Nestled right in the heart of Manhattan, the Ace is a 15/20 minute walk from just about everything. Tons of unique places to eat, times square to the north and lower Manhattan to the south.
Disliked: The AC was a little weak. Could've just been our room but the room never cooled lower than 74 is degrees. We managed but that just may be how the AC is in NYC.

Convenient and comfortable but flawed

Liked: The location is great with lots of cafes and restaurants nearby. The subway is just around the corner as well. The bed was comfortable and the room had a view on to Broadway and the room size was ok. The lobby is very dark and moody. We quite liked it but it may not be everyone’s taste.
Disliked: This is a very old property that has been renovated. However there are many rough edges. The first room we were given on the 7th floor was quite small with no view and the sink tap didn’t work. We were then given a room on the 12th floor which was much better. The air conditioning temperature was set to 18.5 c and could not be changed. If it got too cold all you could do is turn it off. You need to scan a QR code for everything including the mini bar price list which is exorbitant (eg $3 for a tea bag). I was charged $5 after we checked out. I don’t know what for but I haven’t bothered following up. The hyped Smeg fridge and record player were no where to be seen.

Great location

Liked: The central location within Manhattan is great if you want to explore Manhattan on foot or by subway.
Disliked: The room (bunk room) was really small. There was only one chair, but the second person could not sit on the bed due to the top bed height. Lack of airco was intense on hot days.

Very good

Liked: Convent location, loved the theme
Disliked: Toilet was flushing every 15 mins. At one stage it was making a loud grunting noise- this was rectified but the toilet continued to flush every 15 mins. All I got was an apology, repeatedly. No compensation.

Great stay

Liked: Very nice hotel in a great location. Loved the café right there. It can be a pain to find a coffee shop while on vacation but the cafe right at the hotel made great iced lattes, it was so convenient. Room was clean and spacious enough. Loved that the TV let you stream from your phone. Great little details around the room that made this place stand out. My boyfriend and I really loved this place and will probably stay there again.
Disliked: Bathroom really needed and exhaust fan or some sort of ventilation
