Customer service and concern for...
Disliked: I booked my room over a month prior to my stay for an event held downtown. Unfortunately, I received a last minute notice that the event was postponed due to the spreading of COVID-19 cases across Oregon. I called this property and they refused to allow a cancellation of my reservation, due to concerns of COVID-19, three days prior to my scheduled stay. I spoke with both the property staff and the central customer service. The man at the central location stated that the decision to refund was up to the property. The woman at the front desk stated that "no refunds are being issued within the United States" The only accommodation offered was moving my hotel to another date, which does not work for those of us that do not live in the area with uncertain schedules. So to avoid just giving away my money, I made the trip. Once I arrived I found out that they were now allowing free cancellations due to the spreading of COVID-19. There was no attempt to refund my purchase nor any communication that this option was now available. I only found out once I connected to the hotel wifi. Overall, Marriott was not concerned with the health and safety of its guests until it was forced to be. Even then, there were no additional efforts made on their part to accommodate.
