Bad
Liked: The reception was polite and responsive to our comments and agreed to a full refund as we did not stay at the hotel.
Disliked: The room was poor, bed did not look as though it had been made. Toilet disgusting and soiled, mirror dirty and no hot water at wash basin.

Unfortunately, this place should be...
Liked: Absolutely nothing
Disliked: Where to start....Smell of mould in room and mould visible in bathroom.Beds like has been used by someone before.Missing carpet.Towels just so use.Bathroom has gaping hole under electric shower query not safe to shower .Dirty bathroom.Window unable to stay open. When contacted owner after luckily manager to find different accommodation as absolutely disgusted by room, offered why we not spoken to them as she will offer another room....I was under impression you always offered best room.Paid £63 for 2 hour of use room as storage before finding clean and safe accommodation.

Not the best experience but...
Liked: I met the owner and his wife , who were very pleasant and perfect hosts. The open fire in The bar was great with plenty of logs to keep the heat up during the rugby.
Disliked: The hotel needs to be upgraded and the staff need a course in how not to have domestic arguments in the bar in front of guests. Also they had another domestic argument in The early hours of the morning which woke us up and caused us to have a bad nights rest. They really need to consider their guests as the walls are thin so everything was heard including the foul language. Not a good advert but They really need to mature. The menu is not for celiac 's although they tried their best but bring your own gluten free bread, as we did. Breakfast was not included but for a fiver you can have a cooked breakfast ( limited choice for celiac 's) but service was with a smile. We cancelled rest of our trip as wife was unwell after breakfast. This would not be my first choice hotel but in Tarland, it is.This just needs some TLC and it could be such a pleasant visit. The shower in our room was so full of mould we could not use it and needed a clean.
