Liked: Beautiful and historic. Very elegant.
Disliked: View out our 10th floor window was of the huge new structure about 10 feet away. As a result, not much natural light, which made the room feel a little dreary.

Liked: The hotel was beautiful & staff friendly. I love the architecture & historic preservation of such a treasure. The concierge, Tamera Jones, was the best at her job. She was so helpful, knowledgeable & friendly. We appreciated her kindness & attention. The breakfast that we had at the restaurant was good, even fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, amazing.
Disliked: We arrived after check in time, however, our room was not ready. We were given a vague time frame of when it might be available & the desk clerk was too soft spoken in addition to her accent, which made it very difficult to understand her without asking her to repeat herself. When we did get a room, we were very disappointed that we did not have a view at all, ugly rooftop only. The biggest disappointment was the surrounding environment of downtown Austin, 6th street. The city officials should be ashamed of what is happening & need to do a better job of controlling the panhandling & vagrancy so that visitors to Austin won't be afraid to walk the historic district. We were approached by at least 6 people asking for money & at night, the people hanging out under the overpasses was scary. How about a new slogan, "Keep Austin Clean". Do a better job, it's the state capital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Liked: If you are looking for a luxury hotel with history and character in Austin, this is your place. Attentive, friendly, and competent staff, great surroundings, very "Texas".

Liked: The facilities were absolutely beautiful, great location on 6th, very friendly staff, happening bar.
Disliked: Price was outrageous for a room facing construction and a brick wall. Elevators were difficult to get to. You could hear someone flushing a toilet down the hall, extremely noisy hallway, gaps under main door into the room. Bed was very stiff and uncomfortable.

Liked: Lovely old hotel with a lot of charm and history. Hiring staff with good manners who exemplify the period and times when life was slower and graceful. It was wonderful.
Disliked: The bathroom was a little small and the toilet would not flush well

Liked: Olde world comfort, leisure and service. Great location for the older established music rooms and bars of sixth street. Staff were great and could not have been more helpful.
Disliked: Nothing I can think of.
