About Try Thai
The Spotlight on Try Thai

Bold Thai Flavors Just Steps from Manchester’s Music Scene

Try Thai is a modern Thai restaurant nestled in the heart of Manchester’s Chinatown, just a short walk from the city’s most popular music venues. With its sleek interior, welcoming staff, and generous portions, it's a go-to spot for anyone craving authentic Southeast Asian cuisine in a vibrant, downtown setting.

Located on the upper ground floor, Try Thai blends contemporary style with traditional Thai charm. The menu is loaded with flavorful curries, fresh stir-fries, and crowd-pleasing starters like chicken satay and crispy spring rolls. Whether you're dropping in for a fast pre-gig bite or lingering over cocktails after curtain call, the laid-back but lively vibe makes it a solid choice.

Why Concert-goers love it

Its central location makes Try Thai an easy stop before or after a show, especially if you're walking from venues around Oxford Road or the city centre. The service is known to be friendly and efficient, helping you get in and out without stress. The atmosphere is upbeat but not overpowering, so you can still hear your friends without shouting. Plus, the menu offers plenty of quick options if you're on a tight schedule.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to split appetizers and share dishes
  • Solo travelers wanting a warm, welcoming spot to dine before a gig
  • Couples seeking a flavorful dinner before a night out
  • Fans who want a lively, social space to kick off the evening
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want quality meals and generous portions

What People Say

Guests rave about the authentic flavors, especially the green curry and pad Thai. Many highlight the affordable prices for such high-quality food, and the stylish décor that adds to the experience. Reviews often mention the fast and friendly service, making it ideal for those heading to a show. The cocktail menu is also a pleasant surprise, with creative twists on Thai-inspired drinks.

Areas for Improvement

It can get busy during peak times, especially on weekends, so booking ahead is recommended. Some diners noted that the lighting is a bit dim for those who prefer a brighter dining environment. And while the space is modern, it’s not the most spacious—larger groups may find it a bit snug.

The Bottom Line

For flavorful Thai food, fast service, and a buzzing vibe just minutes from Manchester’s music venues, Try Thai hits all the right notes.

l Good food and pleasant service, quite authentic but heavy on the tamarind sauce for the pad Thai. Chicken satay was very good and I was stuffed by the end of the meal.
