About Toro
The Spotlight on Toro

Bold Spanish Flavors in Boston’s South End

Toro is a stylish, energetic Spanish tapas restaurant nestled in Boston’s vibrant South End. Co-owned by celebrated chefs Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette, this hotspot brings a slice of Barcelona to Washington Street with its rustic-chic decor, buzzing atmosphere, and inventive small plates. Located just a short rideshare from major concert venues like Fenway Park and TD Garden, Toro makes a perfect pre-show destination.

The menu is packed with authentic Spanish favorites — think patatas bravas, jamón ibérico, grilled corn with aioli, and fresh seafood tapas — all expertly executed and ideal for sharing. The bar serves up creative cocktails, Spanish wines, and local beers, making it a great place to toast to a night out.

Why Concert-goers love it

Concert-goers appreciate Toro for its proximity to central venues and its high-energy, communal vibe that sets the tone for a great night. While reservations are highly recommended, the service is generally efficient — perfect for those squeezing in a bite before the lights go down. The small plates format means you can customize your meal to fit your time and appetite, and the bar is a lively hangout spot if you’re flying solo or just grabbing a quick drink before the show.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to share flavorful dishes
  • Solo travelers wanting a vibrant seat at the bar
  • Couples on a romantic pre-show date
  • Fans craving a buzz-worthy local spot before the big act
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want to split plates and keep things affordable

What People Say

Reviewers on TripAdvisor and OpenTable rave about the “creative, flavorful dishes” and “fun, bustling atmosphere.” Many mention the grilled corn as a standout and praise the kitchen for consistently delivering high-quality tapas. The ambiance is described as “urban and energetic,” making it a natural fit for pre-concert excitement. Friendly, knowledgeable staff also get frequent shoutouts.

Areas for Improvement

Like many popular spots, Toro can get crowded and noisy, especially on weekends. Some guests note that tables are tightly packed, and walk-ins may face a long wait. Also, while the small plates are delicious, they can add up quickly in price if you’re really hungry — something to keep in mind if you're on a tighter budget before the show.

The Bottom Line

For music lovers seeking bold bites, lively vibes, and a true taste of Spain before hitting a Boston concert, Toro is a crowd-pleasing pick.

l Very crowded, tables really close together - music so loud that you could not talk to your partner - tried several appetizers but we were not overwhelmed. Would not go again.
