Located inside the historic Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, The Terrace Room offers a refined American dining experience with a touch of old-world charm. With its ornate decor, white tablecloth service, and grand chandeliers, this spot blends vintage elegance with modern culinary flair. Just a short walk from several major performance venues, it’s an ideal pre-show destination for a relaxed yet upscale meal.
Concert fans appreciate how close The Terrace Room is to popular venues, making it easy to grab dinner before the show without stressing over travel time. The quiet, sophisticated ambiance is a welcome contrast to the energy of a performance, and the attentive service ensures you’re in and out on time. The menu is classic and comforting—think steak, seafood, and elevated American fare—making it a reliable pick before a lively night out.
Guests rave about the timeless atmosphere and the sense of occasion the dining room provides. Many reviews praise the polished service, generous portions, and the convenience of dining right in the heart of downtown. The crab cakes and filet mignon are consistent favorites, and diners love the classic cocktails that set the tone for a special night out.
Some reviewers mention that the menu leans toward the traditional side—don’t expect culinary experimentation here. It’s also a bit pricier than nearby casual spots, so it may not be the best fit if you’re just grabbing a quick bite in jeans and a t-shirt.
If you’re looking to elevate your concert night with a touch of class and convenience, The Terrace Room delivers a memorable start to your evening.

From start to finish this was by far the worst dining experience we’ve ever had! Our party of 6 was seated. The waiter abruptly came over and said ”are you ready?” No hello, no introduction, no offer of drinks, nothing! He abruptly turned and said he’d be back. He indeed returned quickly with his order pad in hand, again asking if we were ready? We asked for wine to start, house Cabernet which was $8 a glass, until the bill came and we were charged $12 a glass. The menu was a whole other issue. When I booked our reservation, I clearly booked the Terrace room. We looked at the menu online and knew there was plenty to pick from for all 6 of us. The menu we were handed was labeled “The Palm Cafe” with VERY LIMITED options, and only 3 actual entrees to pick from. 3 of us ordered the chicken option, which was so dry and overcooked we couldn’t even cut it let alone eat it! We asked for bread/butter, the waiter said he’d get us some, but never brought any. We finally asked for the manager who seemed to listen but did nothing! The attitude of the waiter remained the same throughout our entire time there, including one time walking away from our table throwing his arms up in the air! We came right out and said we were not paying for the chicken entrees. They were taken off the bill. This is the first (and hopefully only) time we left zero tip! It was a Saturday evening in Pittsburg, and we had theater tickets post dinner, so we had no other options to leave and go somewhere else or we certainly would have! Seriously terrible!
Liked: The atmosphere and the hotel lobby.
Disliked: Everything!
