Step into a world of classic elegance at The Prime Rib, a sophisticated American steakhouse located on K Street in downtown Washington, D.C. With its black-tie ambiance, dim lighting, and live jazz music, this spot offers a timeless dining experience reminiscent of a 1940s supper club. Just a short walk or drive from many of the city's major concert halls and venues, it's an ideal choice for music lovers seeking a refined pre-show meal.
The Prime Rib stands out for its proximity to key concert venues, making it easy to dine in luxury before heading to your event. The attentive and efficient service helps ensure you're in and out on time, even during busy nights. The live piano music adds a classy, low-key vibe perfect for setting the mood without overwhelming conversation. For those dressing up for a big night out, the jacket-required dress code makes it feel like part of the special occasion.
Guests rave about the exceptional service, with staff who are attentive and knowledgeable without being pushy. The filet mignon and crab cakes are frequently called out as must-tries, and the live jazz adds a nostalgic charm that enhances the evening. Many diners mention feeling like they've stepped back in time—in the best way possible—thanks to the elegant décor and classic menu.
It’s no secret that The Prime Rib isn’t a budget-friendly spot—expect premium pricing that matches the upscale setting. Some have noted the dress code can feel a bit strict for spontaneous plans, and the old-school ambiance may not appeal to those looking for something more modern or casual.
If you're looking to pair your concert night with a touch of elegance, The Prime Rib delivers timeless style, indulgent food, and a location that’s just minutes from the music.

Philip is a good server. Most of patrons were way older than me, and I am 51. Just an observation.
Liked: Very good food; service; potato skins rock!
Disliked: A little pricey. Can stand wearing a jacket when eating meat. A little stuffy.
