About The High Field
The Spotlight on The High Field

Laid-back British Dining Just Minutes from Birmingham's Music Scene

Set in a beautifully restored Edwardian building in leafy Edgbaston, The High Field offers a relaxed yet stylish setting for modern British food and craft drinks. Just a short drive or quick taxi ride from Birmingham's top live music venues, this gastropub blends rustic charm with contemporary flair—think velvet sofas, wood floors, and lush garden seating. It's the kind of place where you can settle in for a pre-gig dinner or wind down after a show with a local pint or a well-mixed cocktail.

Why Concert-goers love it

Concert fans love The High Field for its quick service, relaxed atmosphere, and location that's close enough to the city centre to be convenient, but far enough to feel like a local hideaway. It's easy to grab a table before heading to a show, and the menu features seasonal British dishes with a modern twist—perfect for fueling up without feeling heavy. Outdoor seating in warmer months adds to the pre-show excitement, and the buzzy but not-too-loud vibe means you can still talk setlists with your friends.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a fun, sociable space before a gig
  • Solo travelers who want a welcoming bar or garden seat
  • Couples making a weekend of live music and good food
  • Fans wanting a pre-show buzz without the chaos
  • Budget-conscious concert-goers who still want quality dining

What People Say

Reviewers on TripAdvisor and OpenTable praise the friendly and attentive staff, beautifully presented dishes, and the relaxed, stylish setting. Many mention it’s a great spot for both casual drinks and full meals, with special shout-outs for the Sunday roasts and inventive vegetarian options. The garden terrace is a frequent favorite, especially in summer months. Guests also appreciate the easy parking and the fact that it never feels too hectic, even on busy nights.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests noted that prices can be a little on the higher side for a pub-style venue, and during peak times, the bar can get a little crowded. A few diners mentioned that service can slow down slightly when it's full—so allow a little extra time if you’re cutting it close to showtime.

The Bottom Line

Whether you're grabbing dinner before a gig or rounding off the night with a drink, The High Field offers a winning mix of style, comfort, and quality for concert-goers in Birmingham.
