The Brooklyn Diner Times SquareThe Brooklyn Diner Times Square, 155 West 43rd Street, New York |
Located in the heart of Manhattan, just off Times Square, Brooklyn Diner Times Square brings a nostalgic New York vibe with a modern twist. Think gleaming booths, neon signs, and a menu packed with comforting American favorites. It's the kind of place where you can grab a towering pastrami sandwich, a slice of cheesecake the size of your head, or an all-day breakfast before heading to your show.
Despite its name, this is no greasy spoon. The Brooklyn Diner is known for its high-quality ingredients, generous portions, and a polished yet relaxed atmosphere that makes it a standout spot in the bustling theater and entertainment district.
Its prime location just a few blocks from major music venues like Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden makes it an easy meet-up point before a show. The service is quick and friendly, which is ideal if you're short on time. Plus, the vibe is lively without being too loud—perfect for getting pumped up before a concert. Open late and with a full bar, it’s also a great post-show stop.
Reviewers love the classic diner ambiance and say it “feels like old-school New York with a touch of Broadway glamour.” The matzo ball soup and chicken pot pie get rave reviews, and the friendly staff are often mentioned as a highlight. Many say it’s their go-to pre-show dinner spot, thanks to the quick turnaround and central location.
It’s a bit on the pricey side for a diner, especially given the location, and it can get crowded before showtime—so consider making a reservation or arriving a bit early. Also, while the menu is broad, vegetarians may find fewer options than expected.
Brooklyn Diner Times Square is a fun, fast, and flavorful stop for concert-goers who want a true taste of classic New York before the music begins.

Go. Eat. Enjoy. And like shampoo (lather, rinse, repeat), go again (at THIS location).
Liked: Fast service, terrific food, generous portions, and a pleasant environment.
Disliked: I was so pleased I decided to visit the location on 57th Street, which is closed for remodeling. Yeah, there's a wannabe alternative around the corner, but save your time (astoundingly slow service).

Make sure you go there - food was excellent. Very clean. Let them know ahead of time if you are going to a play and need to be out; book on OpenTable.
Liked: Food; location to theatre; friendliness; using OpenTable.
Disliked: Service was a tad slow, but it was busy and lunch time. But they were great in getting us out on time for the play so it was great!

The restaurant was costly but they have very good food! We had chicken pot pies, which were delicious and very filling! The veggie burger was also very good.
Disliked: The prices were expensive. A small bowl of chicken sour - $12.50. Give me a break. I don' t have to pay their rent!
