Street Food Vibes Near the Stage Lights

Soho Korean & Japanese Street Food is a vibrant, casual restaurant located just a short walk from Newcastle’s city centre music venues. With its colorful decor, neon-lit interior, and street food-inspired menu, this spot brings the energy of Tokyo and Seoul straight to Tyneside. Expect bold flavors, fast service, and a laid-back atmosphere that’s perfect for a bite before the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

Only minutes away from major live music venues, Soho is an ideal stop before catching your favorite artist. The menu is built for efficiency—think quick-serve ramen, sushi rolls, and Korean fried chicken—making it easy to dine without missing a beat. The vibrant setting and casual service style mean you can drop in without a reservation, and still be out in time for doors opening. Plus, the buzzing atmosphere makes it feel like the night’s already started.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to share small plates and snacks before a gig
  • Solo travelers grabbing a quick, comforting bowl of ramen
  • Couples enjoying a fun, low-key dinner before a show
  • Lively fans wanting to get in the mood with upbeat music and vibrant decor
  • Budget-conscious diners who still want bold, satisfying flavors

What People Say

Reviewers on TripAdvisor and OpenTable consistently rave about the flavor-packed dishes and surprisingly large portions for the price. The Korean fried chicken gets special praise, as does the spicy ramen and sushi selection. Many mention the speed of service as a major plus when timing a pre-show meal. The atmosphere is described as "fun," "quirky," and "great for a casual night out."

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that it can get a little noisy during peak times—understandable given the street food vibe. Seating is limited, so larger groups might want to arrive early or be flexible. A few reviews note that service can feel rushed during busy periods, but most appreciate the speed when heading to a concert.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for flavorful, fast, and fun food close to Newcastle’s top live music venues, Soho Korean & Japanese Street Food hits all the right notes.

l Had a lovely light lunch here with a friend. Salmon teriyaki and a portion of tempura prawns. Both generous portions, beautifully cooked. Service was first rate. Repeat visit. Can recommend.
