Salt & Char is a modern, upscale steakhouse located right on Broadway in the heart of downtown Saratoga Springs. Housed in the historic Adelphi Hotel, this stylish spot blends luxury with approachability, offering premium cuts of beef, craft cocktails, and attentive service—all just a short stroll from major music venues and live performance spaces.
Known for its refined yet inviting ambiance, Salt & Char delivers a classic American steakhouse experience with contemporary flair, featuring locally-sourced ingredients and a strong focus on presentation and flavor.
Concert-goers appreciate Salt & Char for its convenient location—you can easily enjoy a top-tier meal here and still make it to your show on time. The staff is known for being efficient and attentive, which is ideal for guests on a schedule. The polished, energetic vibe makes it a great place to kick off a night out, and the cocktail menu is a crowd favorite for a pre-show toast.
Reviews on TripAdvisor and OpenTable consistently praise Salt & Char’s impeccable service, elegant atmosphere, and perfectly cooked steaks. Guests rave about the dry-aged ribeye, truffle fries, and the extensive wine list. Many mention that it's a great spot to celebrate a special evening, and several point out the convenient location for events and performances nearby.
While the quality is top-notch, some diners note that prices are on the higher end, especially for appetizers and cocktails. If you're on a tight schedule, it's best to let your server know upfront—though service is generally prompt, a full dinner experience can be leisurely. Reservations are highly recommended, particularly on concert nights or weekends.
If you're looking to elevate your concert night with a premium steak and a sophisticated setting just steps from the action, Salt & Char delivers every time.

We have dined at Salt and Char many times in the past. High end prices, but the location is great and, in the past, food has been OK. This time, after reconstruction, there was no ramp for partner's wheelchair directly into the restaurant. We had to navigate the back halls and prep areas while simultaneously waiting for a wedding party to pass. We ordered a bourbon Manhattan for each of the three of us - two with Makers Mark and one with Southern Comfort. All arrived with Makers Mark, which we sent back. We were informed that they did not have Southern Comfort. The vichyssoise was horrible - waaay too salty and lacking in flavor outside of salt. The pasta dish came with only three shrimp (at these prices!) and the seafood croque, again, was waaay too salty. We will not be returning...
Liked: Location.
Disliked: No immediate access into the restaurant for wheelchair.
