Roma Portland is a warm and inviting Italian restaurant located on bustling Congress Street in Portland’s West End, just a short walk from several popular concert venues. This charming spot blends old-world Italian tradition with a cozy neighborhood vibe, making it a favorite for both locals and visitors looking for a satisfying pre-show dinner or a late-night bite. With its vintage décor, candlelit tables, and casual dress code, it’s the kind of place where you can relax before the big event without sacrificing flavor or atmosphere.
Roma Portland is perfectly positioned for concert-goers—close enough to the action without being caught up in the crowd. The service is known for being friendly and efficient, which means you can enjoy a full meal and still make it to your seat on time. The intimate, low-noise setting offers a calm contrast to the high-energy night ahead, and the hearty Italian menu—with generous portions of pasta, seafood, and classic antipasti—makes it easy to fuel up before a show. Plus, dinner service runs late, ideal for grabbing a bite afterward too.
Reviewers on TripAdvisor and OpenTable highlight Roma’s charming ambiance, with many praising the authentic Italian flavors and attentive service. Guests often mention the house-made pasta and the intimate, candlelit setting as standouts. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable, and the staff is known for making diners feel at home—perfect for easing into or winding down from a concert night.
Some diners note that the space is on the smaller side, which can mean limited seating during peak hours. Reservations are recommended, especially on show nights. Also, while the menu is traditional and comforting, those seeking trendier or more modern fare might find it a bit classic for their tastes.
Roma Portland delivers cozy, satisfying Italian cuisine with quick, friendly service—ideal for concert-goers wanting a delicious and stress-free meal before or after the show.

When we arrived we were only the 3rd party there. We specifically requested a prompt meal and the check when dinner came so we could make a show. Then we sat. And sat. And sat. The restaurant filled up. We asked where our meal was after one hour and were told it was just coming. Then we sat and sat some more. Told again the meal was coming and it didn't. When it finally was served it was under seasoned, under sauced, tepid and flavorless. We expressed our displeasure we were told it was all comped. I cannot imagine going back after such a poor showing which is too bad. We were excited to try it.
Liked: The interior.
Disliked: Mostly everything.
