About Rangoon - Chelsea
The Spotlight on Rangoon - Chelsea

Bold Burmese Flavors in the Heart of Chelsea

Rangoon - Chelsea brings the rich, aromatic flavors of Burmese cuisine to a cozy, minimalist space in one of Manhattan’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Just a short walk from several iconic concert venues, this intimate spot is a hidden gem for food lovers looking to try something new before a show. With a menu inspired by the diverse culinary traditions of Myanmar, Rangoon serves up authentic dishes with a modern twist, all in a relaxed, no-fuss setting.

Why Concert-goers love it

Rangoon’s location makes it an easy stop before heading to a nearby concert, and the efficient service means you won’t be late for the opening act. The atmosphere is low-key and welcoming—perfect for unwinding before the energy of a live performance. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a full meal, Rangoon’s menu caters to both.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to share flavorful small plates
  • Solo travelers wanting a relaxed meal before a show
  • Couples planning a unique pre-concert dinner
  • Fans who love discovering local gems near venues
  • Budget-conscious music lovers craving quality food without the high price tag

What People Say

Guests rave about the Tea Leaf Salad, Mohinga (fish noodle soup), and Paratha with curry dips. The food is praised for being fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully presented. Many reviewers highlight Rangoon as a “hidden treasure” in Chelsea, with friendly service and an authentic vibe. It's often described as a great intro to Burmese cuisine, especially for those who haven’t tried it before.

Areas for Improvement

The space is on the smaller side, so it can get a bit tight during peak hours—consider making a reservation or arriving early. Also, while the menu is adventurous and exciting, it might be a bit niche for picky eaters or those unfamiliar with Southeast Asian flavors.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for something unique, flavorful, and close to NYC’s top concert venues, Rangoon - Chelsea is a delicious choice that hits all the right notes.

l Lovely Saturday lunch with attentive service. A bit pricey but very tasty. Music is somewhat loud and distracting. But the fried chicken appetizer with sweet chili sauce makes it all work.
