About New Orleans Creole Cookery
The Spotlight on New Orleans Creole Cookery

Classic Cajun Flavor in the Heart of the French Quarter

Located just off lively Bourbon Street, New Orleans Creole Cookery serves up bold, traditional Creole and Cajun flavors in a festive, welcoming setting. Housed in a charming historic building on Toulouse Street, this spot blends old-school New Orleans character with a modern, casual vibe. Whether you're craving gumbo, shrimp and grits, or a po' boy piled high, this is a go-to for real-deal Southern cooking.

Why Concert-goers love it

This restaurant is a short walk from many major music venues in the French Quarter, making it a perfect pre-show pit stop. The kitchen is known for its quick service even during busy hours, and the energetic yet comfortable atmosphere makes it easy to get in the spirit before a show. There’s also a charming open-air courtyard if you’re looking to enjoy the New Orleans breeze with your meal.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to share plates and laughs before a concert
  • Solo travelers who want a flavorful meal at the bar before heading out
  • Couples soaking up the romance of New Orleans on a music-filled weekend
  • Fans wanting a lively pre-show space with strong drinks and personality
  • Budget-conscious music fans who want filling, flavorful food without fine-dining prices

What People Say

Reviews consistently highlight the authentic Creole dishes like crawfish étouffée and red beans and rice, along with the friendly staff and vibrant atmosphere. Many diners mention the beautiful courtyard seating as a highlight, while others rave about the signature cocktails and generous portions. It's often called a “hidden gem” just off the beaten path of Bourbon Street.

Areas for Improvement

During peak hours, especially on weekends, the place can get a bit loud—though that’s part of the charm for many. Some reviewers note that wait times for a table can be longer during festival season, so reservations are a smart move. Also, the spicy dishes pack a punch, so be ready if you're spice-sensitive!

The Bottom Line

New Orleans Creole Cookery is a festive, flavorful spot that's easy to access from local music venues—perfect for concert-goers craving a true taste of the Big Easy before the show begins.

l Nice restaurant - with a lovely courtyard - serving good creole cuisine. We opted for the chargrilled oysters and jambalaya, both of which were very good. Service was fine and the prices reasonable.
