About Morimoto
The Spotlight on Morimoto

Innovative Japanese Dining Just Steps from the Action

Morimoto is a sleek, cutting-edge Japanese restaurant in the heart of Philadelphia’s historic district, just a short walk from major concert venues. Designed by renowned architect Karim Rashid, Morimoto is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the taste buds, offering a futuristic ambiance with glowing lights, sculptural seating, and a vibe that feels both upscale and welcoming. The menu—curated by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto—features imaginative sushi, sashimi, and hot dishes with modern twists.

Why Concert-goers love it

Located just blocks from popular music venues, Morimoto is an ideal pre-show stop for fans who want to dine in style without straying far. The restaurant offers quick, attentive service that won't leave you watching the clock. Sound levels are moderate, allowing for easy conversation without being too hushed or too loud. There’s even a tasting menu for those looking to make a night of it before the encore begins.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to share inventive sushi and cocktails in a bold setting
  • Solo travelers who want a top-notch dining experience before heading to a show
  • Couples planning a romantic night out with a concert as the main event
  • Fans wanting an energetic, modern vibe to kick off their evening
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want quality—there are smaller plates and à la carte options available

What People Say

Guests rave about the artful presentation and creative flavors, with many calling it a “culinary adventure.” The omakase tasting menu is a standout for those wanting a memorable experience. Reviews praise the attentive staff, modern décor, and central location. Many mention how efficient the service is, making it easy to enjoy a full meal without missing your opening act.

Areas for Improvement

This is not your grab-and-go sushi bar—prices are on the higher end, so it may not suit every wallet. While the decor is chic, some guests say it can feel a bit too trendy or dimly lit for their taste. Reservations are highly recommended, especially on show nights.

The Bottom Line

If you’re heading to a concert and want to start your evening with bold Japanese flavors in a visually stunning space, Morimoto delivers a show of its own.

l I tried my first Wagyu steak ever and it was already my favorite food ever. The rice was great, liked the crab roll, and loved the chocolate mousse cake.
