About Mike's Beer Bar
The Spotlight on Mike's Beer Bar

Craft Beer and Classic American Eats Right by the Action

Mike's Beer Bar is a vibrant, no-frills American bar and restaurant located directly across from PNC Park in Pittsburgh’s North Shore neighborhood. With an unbeatable location just steps from major concert and sports venues, it delivers a casual, energetic vibe that’s perfect for kicking off a night out. The standout feature? A jaw-dropping selection of over 500 beers, including 80 rotating taps focused on local Pennsylvania breweries.

This is the kind of place where you can grab a juicy burger, sample a flight of craft brews, and soak in the buzz of the city before heading to your show. Whether you’re looking to sit inside among the flat screens or enjoy the outdoor patio on warm nights, Mike's keeps things laid-back and welcoming.

Why Concert-goers love it

Mike’s is practically made for concert-goers. It’s just a short walk from several of Pittsburgh’s top music venues, making it an ideal pre-show pit stop. The vibe is upbeat but not overwhelming, meaning you can enjoy a fun atmosphere without shouting over your table. Service is known to be quick and friendly, especially appreciated when you’re on a time crunch before doors open. Plus, the wide beer selection and hearty menu hit the spot before a long night of dancing or singing along.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking to share drinks and wings before a show
  • Solo travelers catching a concert and wanting a friendly bar scene
  • Couples planning a casual, fun date night before live music
  • Fans who want to soak up the lively pre-show energy
  • Budget-conscious concert-goers who still want quality eats and drinks

What People Say

Reviews across TripAdvisor and OpenTable describe Mike’s as a “beer lover’s paradise” with a “great selection of local brews” and “delicious bar food.” Guests rave about the burgers, soft pretzels, and flatbreads, and many appreciate the “friendly and knowledgeable staff.” The location earns consistent praise as “perfect for pre-game or pre-concert,” and outdoor seating is a big hit during warmer months.

Areas for Improvement

On game or concert nights, the place can get pretty packed, so be prepared for a short wait if you arrive during peak hours. Some diners mention that the menu is more bar-focused than gourmet – which is great if you’re after casual bites, but maybe not ideal for those seeking fine dining. Also, parking in the area can be a bit challenging when events are underway.

The Bottom Line

If you’re heading to a concert and want great beer, tasty food, and a buzzing atmosphere just steps from the venue, Mike’s Beer Bar is a top pick.

l Good food options, excellent large beer menu. I tried the yinzer wrap to get an all in one local food experience and was not a fan of it. The crab dip was excellent.
