The Spotlight on Mela Restaurant

Spiced-Up Dining Steps from the Stage

Why Concert-goers love it

Convenient location is a major draw—Mela is close to popular live music venues, making it easy to fit into your night. The service is consistently fast and attentive, ideal for grabbing a flavorful meal without worrying about missing the opening act. The laid-back vibe means you can enjoy a conversation without shouting, even on busy nights, and they offer a solid selection of vegetarian and vegan options to suit all tastes.

What People Say

Reviews on TripAdvisor and OpenTable highlight the rich, authentic flavors and friendly, efficient service. Diners love the chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, and garlic naan, often calling it some of the best Indian food in Boston. Many guests say they were in and out in under an hour without feeling rushed. The cozy interior and consistent quality also get high marks from regulars and visitors alike.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers note that parking in the South End can be tricky, so it’s best to plan ahead or use a ride-share. A few guests mention that seating can be tight during peak times—so if you're headed to a big-name concert, consider making a reservation.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers craving bold flavor, friendly service, and a convenient location, Mela is a top pick in Boston’s dining scene.

l Consistently excellent food and service. I would strongly recommend it if in the Historic Southend. Probably the best restaurant for Indian food in Boston.
