Located inside a beautifully restored historic building just steps from Tacoma’s top concert venues, McMenamins Elks Temple is a multi-level experience offering more than just a meal. With its signature quirky décor, stained glass, and vintage touches, this lively American restaurant offers a relaxed, slightly whimsical atmosphere that’s just as memorable as the shows you’re headed to see. Whether you're grabbing a burger, sipping on a house-brewed ale, or catching the view from the Spanish Steps Patio, there’s plenty of flavor and fun packed into this local favorite.
If you're looking to fuel up before a show—or wind down after—McMenamins is a solid choice. It's just minutes from Tacoma’s major music venues, making it super convenient for concert-goers. The venue's multiple bars, quick counter service at the Art Rock Café, and casual seating make it easy to plan a quick bite without stress. And thanks to the building’s layout, you’ll usually find a spot with the noise level that suits your mood—whether you’re looking for energy or something more low-key.
Guests rave about the unique ambiance and the fact that there’s “something different on every floor,” from cozy bars to rooftop views. The food gets solid marks, especially for pub classics like burgers, tots, and pizzas. Many mention the convenience of grabbing a meal before a concert and love the welcoming, unpretentious vibe. The historic charm and funky artwork also earn high praise from visitors.
Like many popular spots, it can get busy on show nights, especially in the main dining areas. Some reviewers note that service can be a bit slow during peak hours, so if you're on a tight pre-show schedule, arriving early is a smart move. Also, parking downtown can be tricky, so plan accordingly.
With its eclectic charm, hearty eats, and unbeatable location, McMenamins Elks Temple is a top pick for concert-goers wanting a memorable meal before or after the show.

Prior to a local concert, we were on time for our dinner reservation, seated 30 minutes late, our order taken but never delivered. After 40 minutes we left the restaurant without eating. Stopped for pizza at Puget Sound Pizza up the street instead, who had friendly service and delicious food, that was much better! A miss by McMenamins!
Liked: Fun downstairs tiki bar.
Disliked: Never served dinner we ordered.
