About Laveau
The Spotlight on Laveau

Southern Spice and Soul in the Heart of Cincinnati

Laveau brings the bold, soulful flavors of New Orleans to downtown Cincinnati with a modern twist. Located on East 6th Street, it’s just a short walk from many of the city’s top concert venues, making it a go-to for music lovers looking to fuel up before a show. The vibe is vibrant yet cozy, with exposed brick, moody lighting, and a soundtrack that keeps the energy high.

Specializing in Creole, Cajun, and Southern classics, Laveau serves up dishes like gumbo, shrimp and grits, and fried green tomatoes with a refined touch. The bar is a standout too, known for its seasonal craft cocktails and impressive bourbon list.

Why Concert-goers love it

Its close proximity to music venues makes Laveau a smart stop for pre-show dining or a post-gig nightcap. Service is quick and friendly — ideal for those on a schedule — and the lively but not-too-loud atmosphere means you can get in the mood without shouting over your gumbo. Many diners mention that the kitchen handles time constraints well, making it easy to grab a flavorful bite before heading to the show.

Who this Restaurant is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a high-energy spot with shareable plates
  • Solo travelers wanting a vibrant dining experience before a big gig
  • Couples making a date night out of dinner and a concert
  • Fans who love a good Southern cocktail before the lights go down
  • Budget-conscious music fans — the happy hour menu is a hit

What People Say

Guests rave about the authentic flavors and unique takes on Southern staples. The fried chicken and catfish po’boys are favorites, and the cocktails are frequently praised for their creativity and strength. The ambiance gets high marks too — reviewers appreciate the intimate yet upbeat feel, perfect for getting into the concert spirit.

Areas for Improvement

Some diners mention that the portions can be on the smaller side, especially for heartier appetites. It can also get busy on show nights, so a reservation is a good idea if you’re on a tight timeline. And while the music adds to the vibe, it might be a bit energetic for those seeking a quiet dinner.

The Bottom Line

Laveau is a flavorful, fun, and convenient choice for concert-goers who want to spice up their night with a bit of Southern flair.

l We stopped before the ballgame for an early 4pm sitting of Gumbo and fried shrimp. Very tasty our meal was quiet and leisurely as folks trickled in during our meal to start to fill this place.
