Garibaldi - Savannah Customer Reviews

Set in a beautifully restored 19th-century firehouse, Garibaldi is a longtime Savannah favorite known for its elegant seafood dishes, intimate atmosphere, and Southern charm. Located on West Congress Street in the heart of the historic district, it’s just a short stroll from the city’s popular concert venues and nightlife. With its candlelit ambiance, vintage mirrors, and soaring ceilings, the restaurant delivers a timeless, upscale experience with a touch of romance.
Location is everything, and Garibaldi nails it—it’s within walking distance of several music venues, making it a smart stop for pre-show dining. The restaurant opens early enough to allow for a relaxing dinner before heading to a performance. Guests appreciate the efficient service that doesn't feel rushed, even when it’s busy. The sophisticated yet lively vibe helps set the mood for a night out, and the acoustics are pleasant enough to carry a conversation without competing with the buzz of other tables.
Reviewers consistently praise the stuffed flounder and lobster & pasta dishes as standout menu items. The service is described as attentive without being overbearing, and many love the historic ambiance and architecture of the building. Diners say it’s a great spot for celebrating an occasion—or just setting the tone for a memorable evening. The bar is also a highlight, offering creative cocktails and a strong wine list.
Some guests note that the restaurant can get quite busy on weekends, so reservations are highly recommended. A few mention that prices are on the higher side, though most agree the quality justifies the cost. Parking can be tricky downtown, so allow extra time if you're driving in before a show.
For concert-goers who want a touch of elegance, expertly prepared seafood, and a convenient downtown location, Garibaldi serves up a pre-show experience that’s hard to beat.

My wife and I passed through Savannah on our way to a vacation in south Florida! Chose to eat at Garibaldi's and couldn't have been more pleased! Our server was pleasant and attentive and the food was as good as any we've had in a long time. Sauce on the chicken piccata was out of this world, my wife's salmon phenomenal and even the salads were 10/10! Management here is wonderful, too and you can tell they really care about their customers' experience. Highly recommend!
Liked: Exceptional food; superb service; wonderful atmosphere!

See what was good. Garibaldi's is worth every penny you spend. A throw back to old time service and quality. We will be back and will recommend.
Liked: Service was five star. Our server, Daphne, was everything you could expect in a high end restaurant. Nothing was overlooked, she was observant, professional and pleasant. The manager, Hans, came over to chat while we were waiting and again when we were leaving. My seating requests when we arrived were honored. The food was prepared perfectly and served in a manner that was neither too quick nor left stuffed from eating bread.
Disliked: Nothing.

Greeted by friendly faces throughout the restaurant; seated quickly; attractive setting and comfortable atmosphere. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, and the soup of the day as appetizers - both were perfect. I love good fried green tomatoes, and these were cut thick and still had a nice crunch to them. Entrées we selected were the flounder and the veal. Again both were delicious, and decent portions. My flounder had a nice glaze, and the diamond cut made it even more enjoyable to eat. For dessert we shared the almond berry basket, which had ice cream and fruit in a bowl made with almonds - brilliant - and sauce drizzled on top. Perfect ending to a great dining experience. All of our courses arrived as one would hope, not too fast, not too slow. Price tag for all our food was just over $100, which I felt was a great value. And of course being located in Savannah made for a great place to walk around, shop, and see the sights. Call ahead for a reservation and avoid the wait, or just get there a little early and hang out with the bartender.
Liked: Friendly staff; delicious food, seafood primarily; pleasant ambiance; great overall experience.
